My husband surprised me with tickets to see Wicked for our 10 anniversary in June. I want to make something that sorta fits the theme of the evening, but not at all costumey (is that a word?) Looking for fabric and pattern suggestions. I'm a step up from beginner, and wear a 16 in ready to wear. I thought you all might have some fun with this :)

You will love Wicked. My daughters and I went to see the show and had a wonderful time. It is a different spin of a well told story. Have fun

OMG! I loved this play. I got to see it when I visited NYC last spring. I really like the idea of a green dress. You might be able to play up the color with some green eyeshadow if you don't think it'd be too costumey (and if you look good in green eyeshadow).

I really, really loved this musical as well! Saw it last summer- it was my birthday present from my husband. A green (from kelly to emerald) would be quite fitting. Have fun! Oh, and buy the soundtrack- I absolutely loved the music.

That top would be perfect. Nice if you can find a sheer green in either a print or solid.

DD took me to Wicked a couple years ago and we really enjoyed it. Have you read the book?

I really love this top and I think that it would be great for the show! BTW, Lucky you! Enjoy the show!

Saw it twice. The first time everyone seemed to be in standard go-to-the theatre clothes (which in Houston means everything from opera-gala-dressy to shorts-'n-flipflops).

The second time I felt like the only woman there not wearing green.

That top in a deep green will be perfect.

Loved the show! Obvious I guess since we went again. Hated the book and only got halfway through it. I found it hard to imagine how they conceived that show from that book. Other than the basic premise and the names of characters and places they bore little resemblance to each other. The book was really dark and creepy.

edited to say: Now I'm going to have the song 'Popular' in my head all afternoon...
