I have a love/hate relationship with Fabric Mart. I love their swatch club. Their prices are pretty good for the quality. I hate that they don't automatically send a tracking number when they ship and I hate that fabric is just dumped in a box unprotected from the elements. Not that I've ever had a problem, but it's the principle.

But in this order I got a free mystery bundle and 2 pound assortment of leather skins that was under $12. The skin assortment is totally rocking my world. It's much better than I thought it would be for $12. Four good-sized pieces - at least enough for a purse or tote bottom, one looks like a whole skin but with some color flaws.

I was surprised that the free bundle has some very nice pieces:
- a couple of shirtings I will actually use
- some white woven (maybe poplin?) that will be really useful for me if it tests as 100% cotton, but I have a few ideas for it even if it has some poly
- some kind of embroidered taffeta-like substance (if it burns as rayon I would call it a liner fabric) it looks like something Marcy Tilton would make a jacket out of. Not sure what will become of it if it's poly. Actually it looks a lot like this in pale grey-ish lavendar. If it tests as nylon it may become a windbreaker jacket! There's over 2 yds of it which should be enough I am short
- something that may very well be a medium-weight white silk habotai, about a 10mm or a little heavier. Could be poly though, some of those feel very silky. If it tests as poly it will become doll clothes
- some sort of loosely woven tweed/suiting-type in a tiny black/white check. This is the only one I have no ideas for - I have a couple of tweed jackets I don't have any use for now. I live a very casual lifestyle and am always too hot in them anyway. It's not closely woven enough for slacks I don't think...

Gonna go fondle the leather again...

Congrats on the bootie, but I though they discontinued the bundles?

I didn't think they were totally discontinued, but they don't have any fabric bundles or free bundle offers up on the site right now..
Unless it's one of those premium member deals that you can see if you place an order of more than $150?

My free bundle was awesome as well. I received 2.75 yds of a pale, pale lavender 100% linen, 2 yds of a pale lavender wide stripe seersucker blend type, 2.5 yds of a jade & pink silk-cotton paisley (which I love and have bought 10 yds of in the past!), 2 yds of a black rayon blend ponte type knit, and 2+ yds of a wide chartreuse satin, perhaps silk, definitely feels like a natural fiber. In the past I have received premium English wool suiting, silk-lurex chiffon, and rayon matte jersey in a bundle! It's always such a serendipitous surprise! Only once have I been less than thrilled with a bundle - but hey, they are usually free!

I recently placed an order with Fabric Mart and asked them what happened to the Mystery Bundle(which is my favorite thing about Fabric Mart!). I received an email from them saying that they were out of the bundles right now, but they would be back. I almost cried when I saw that the mystery bundle was gone!!

Yeesh. You just described the Victoria Secrets Bundle I got from FabricClub.com.

They fricking sent me cluny lace placemats. Since when have you seen a VS collection that featured the models in fricking cluny lace placemats?!

I'm sure you'll make an uber sexy bra and thong set using the cluny lace placemats...can't wait to see them.

Consider it a McGuiver moment!

Yeah I bit on Fabric Club. The individual fabrics were OK but they made some odd choices. They did not have the full amount of a silk I ordered so they "made up for it" by adding extra to a linen I ordered. Of course I can't really make that work in the nightgown and shirt project...

Mine, too. Garish colored synthetics and a print that I swore my grandma wore in 1977!!!!!! No more mystery bundles for me.
