There are some new & exiting classes IMHO - Distressing Leather, Painting on Leather & Silk Painting all by Anna Mazur. Also, Trudy Hanson of HotPatterns has 4 different classes. So, exciting!

Really good schedule this year! I love that Trudy Hansen from HotPatterns will be there. So many favorites and good newcomers. Expos are fun, but ASG conference can't be beat for large number of the top sewing instructors and mentors.

The classes do look great this year. Has anyone taken a class from Jennifer Stern before? She has some interesting ones but I am looking for a review. Thanks!

I would love to go to this this year, but it looks so expensive! Especially since there are full day classes I would love to go to every day! But after my disappointment this year is the Sewing Expo here in Atlanta, I am not sure if I want to spend more money and be equally disappointed. I've not been to the ASG conference before. For those of you who have been - will it be worth it?

I have been to 2 ASG conferences 2003 in Portland & 2004 in Dallas. I went to both because of certain classes I was interested in. Well worth it, IMHO. I'm going again this year, too, because of certain classes - Hotpatterns Trudy Hansen & Leather Distressing & Leather Painting to name a few. I think that if you're interested in particualr classes/teachers you'll love it! Also, only the Thursday all day classes have an additional fee. The others are included in your registration.

I have been to the past 2 conferences and felt that the money was well worth it. Don't forget the class fee includes breakfast and lunch! It is well run and most of the teachers are fantastic. Anyone interested needs to sign up early as most of the classes sell out quickly!

The ASG conferences are nothing like the sewing expos. I really think you get your investment back. Most people are staying in the same hotel (or across the street from a convention center in some cities) and it is total immersion for 4-5 days. Breakfast and lunch are included every day. The entire conference eats together and it's not the yucky food at the expos.

There is a fun marketplace which is always better than the expos. (But some of the same vendors). There is a bigger variety of instructors and all but a few don't teach at the expos.

Per day, the rate seems more reasonable. I haven't missed an ASG conference in 15 years or so but I've almost stopped the expos completely due to lack of new people presented there.

The ASG fashion show is always fun.

Some of the Friday through Sunday classes do have an additional fee, for instance, #11A Jeans Workshop, Kit Fee: $30.00; #37C Silk from the Orient to Atlanta, Kit Fee: $10.00 and #6D Sewing with Silk, Kit Fee: $25.00. I've signed up for these classes and had to budget a little extra cash for them.

I've only attended one ASG Conference and it was a great event in Orlando, FL. I'm really looking forward to my Sewing Vacation.
