Date: 4/12/10 4:50 PM I just posted my first review of a pattern this weekend. Someone commented that if I make it again, I should consider making a larger size.
What the heck does that mean? That it looks too small in the picture I posted? Actually, it was a bit big, and I had to take it in so it wouldn't fall off of me.
Is this kind of thing common around here? Not very encouraging to continue to post pictures of myself, I must say.

Date: 4/12/10 4:59 PM I read your review, and I don't think she was saying anything negative. I think she was just mentioning that you might want to make the next size up for a woven because it behaves differently than a knit. |

Date: 4/12/10 5:05 PM I think they were respnding to your comment that you might make it again in a woven. Just giving you a heads up that a woven has less stretch and you may need a larger size to compensate. I didn't read it as a comment about your size. It could have, perhaps, been worded a little differently. One of the problems of this type of communication - people quite often come across as brusque, sometimes even rude when you don't have facial expressions and tone of voice as indicators of meaning.
Please don't take it to heart, your top looks lovely and your review was very informative. ------ chris

Date: 4/12/10 5:06 PM I looked at your review and your top looked very nice. I believe the person making the comment just meant that if you decide to make a knit top pattern in a cotton or other kind of fabric (as you said in your review) you'll need to remember to make it bigger. Most knit patterns have little to no ease. It wasn't meant to say the original top looks bad. So, I would just post away with pictures of yourself. Nice first review. |

Date: 4/12/10 9:35 PM I agree with the others - I think the poster was just trying to be helpful regarding knits vs. wovens. Your top is lovely and very flattering. Can't wait to see what you make next. ------ Marie

Date: 4/12/10 11:00 PM Yep, I agree with the other comments too.
I don't think the comment was a negative at all.
Sometimes when we are trying to write briefly, our sentence structure and wording doesn't always convey the content as we intended. I would view the message as a big positive and keep on writing your reviews, as that is one lovely top and we want to see more of your fabulous sewing

Date: 4/13/10 12:28 PM Harriet, I am at least twice your size and there has NEVER been a unkind comment about my size on a review or a picture I posted in a thread. Everyone has been very encouraging and supportive. I hope you feel better about he comment.
BTW, I love your top! -- Edited on 4/13/10 12:29 PM -- ------ My hope is to sew to the very end. They'll find my head slumped over my precious Kenmore 19606 and have to pry the seam ripper from my cold, dead hands. |

Date: 4/13/10 1:11 PM I agree with all the others -- the comment could have been explained a bit better, but it did say "if you decide to make it in a woven" or something like that. And by the way, you look great -- many of us here would be tickled completely and totally pink to look that great in a sleeveless top! ------ my shield and my very great reward (Gen. 15:1)
