Date: 4/13/10 10:45 PM Anyone know where to get jeans rivets? Those little metal things at the pocket corners?
I have just called Spotlight x2, Rathdowne Fabrics, Clegs, and Trimmings and Remnants. They all have jeans buttons but none have the rivets. I tried googling and only got manufacturers and wholesalers.
Anyone know where to get these? I would prefer not have to order from an overseas website as it takes ages and shipping is expensive. Thanks! ------ Claire - Melbourne, Australia |

Date: 4/13/10 11:20 PM ClaireEmily, Try calling Darn Cheap Fabrics. This is where I've bought my jean rivets in the past but it's been a few years so phone first to check. I'm not sure if they still carry them. Jean Rivets are hard to get hold of.
If you still have no luck you could call the wholesalers (Birch & MRech Accessories) and ask who in your area stocks them. ------ Belinda. Melbourne, Australia

Date: 4/13/10 11:26 PM I haven't seen them anywhere I can remember.
But you could also try calling Darn Cheap, Jimmy Buttons or Buttonmania. (if you're looking for ideas)
Is it worth trying a couple of manufacturers to see whether they'd sell to you & if they have a minimum purchase?
Good luck

Date: 4/14/10 0:15 AM Claire, I'm waiting for some rivets to arrive in the mail. I'd be happy to split them with you. I got the dark bronze here.
Let me know if the colour is ok, and how many you want and I can drop them in the letter box on my way past one morning. ------ chris

Date: 4/14/10 1:53 AM Chris, did you need an ABN or anything to purchase from MRech? Your link shows they have the antique nickel rivets I've been searching for everywhere!! I couldn't even find them OS. Can't believe the prices either. I don't exactly need 100 rivets but at that price it wouldn't matter.
Thanks for the link. ------ Belinda. Melbourne, Australia

Date: 4/14/10 3:10 AM Belinda, they've been selling to the public for about a year. You can buy over the counter but have to buy a roll or box or whatever the minimum wholesale is. There is a "shop online" button near the top of the page of their site. They have an odd checkout system - check the order info and how to pay links. You checkout, wait for email confirmation and then pay. I bought rivets, burrs and buttons and postage was about $8. Be aware that you need to buy the rivets and the matching burrs. Still comes out at less than $10 (plus postage) for 100 sets. ------ chris

Date: 4/14/10 3:24 AM Thanks Chris for the info, especially the bit about getting the matching burrs. I may have missed that. Off to shop. This could get very dangerous... ------ Belinda. Melbourne, Australia

Date: 4/14/10 3:37 AM Oh Chris you are a gem! I would love to buy some from you! I would like 20 or so, which I calculate as enough for 2 pairs of jeans. Better make that 22 as I'm sure I'll stuff some up!
Thanks so much everyone for your replies! I have yet to get to Darn Cheap so I keep forgetting about it. Glad to know others have trouble too - not even any on Australian ebay.
Today I tried on muslin number 2 of Hotpatterns Jean Jeanious Trouser Jean. It was a disaster. Think I'm ready to can the pattern and start again on McCall 5142 so it's not like my jeans will be eventuating any time soon..........God I hate fitting issues. and mine are huge. If I ever do get a pair of well fitting jeans I;m sure I'll be making them for the next 20 years!
