Subject: Touch Of Gold 100% Rayon Interfacing Date: 4/14/10 1:33 PM

I sew with silk frequently, and Touch Of Gold 100% rayon was always one of my favorite lightweight fusible interfacings. It has become very difficult to find in the past couple of years. I heard it may have been discontinued, or the company may have gone out of business. Anyway, Fabric Club has it in 25 yard lengths for $44.25, which works out to $1.77 a yard. I know many have not had the best experiences with Fabric Club, but when I saw they had Touch O Gold Rayon, I couldn't resist. I ordered one bolt of each in black and white.

I hope Fabric Club has the fiber content right. The original Touch o' Gold by HTC was 100% rayon. Then they made a blend or a synthetic version. Sawyer Brook sells the Touch of Gold II and their photo shows the fiber content listed.

Two different independent fabric store owners have told me that HTC went out of business. One said it was about two years ago.

ETA I hope the bolts you ordered are indeed rayon! I also really like this interfacing.

Sewliz, I'm nearly positive the bolts I ordered are 100% Rayon because the width was listed as 36". From what I know, the later polyester Touch of Gold interfacings are all 20" wide. The Rayon always came in a 36" width. I'm crossing my fingers that this is what I'll receive. Fabric Club also has the polyester Touch of Gold listed, and it is clearly identified as polyester.

That's a good indicator!

Now I'm wondering about this. 60" wide Touch o' Gold?

I have never seen 60" Touch of Gold. It would be interesting to email the website and ask about the fabric content. However, I also see it is listed as out of stock, and the minimum order is 100 yards. That would definitely be a lot of interfacing.

Yes, exactly 1,500 square feet. A bit more than I need in my lifetime.

Yeesh - I almost bought the 25 yard bolt, but I'm wondering how many years it would take me to go through that, & it's *only* 675 sq. ft.

I think I need to spend that $45 on fabric......

Now you can get the bolt for even less.

Yes, I obviously ordered too soon. Now the 25 yard bolts are 24.50, and there's a 50% off coupon code, FC0050, which makes them $12.25. Shipping is only 99 cents. Hard to pass up at that price.
