Has anyone seen the new Elna 444 coverstitch machine?
I'm looking into getting a cover stitch machine.
Been checking the Janome 1000CPX, and the Elna 434( I think that's the coverstich machine).
Always confusing!!
Now there's a new Elna 444 out now, and wanted to check this out before I purchase anything.

Thanks Donna

Thanks for the info on the new 444. With Janome heading Elna USA both brands seem to have such similar machines now. I was wondering if Elna was going to come out with a model like the Janome 1000CPX. I didn't check yet to see if there are any differences between the two models other than appearance. I think the Elna 434 is probably the same as the Janome 1000 CP.

I am looking forward to see if Elna comes out with a new machine like the yet to come Janome Horizon Memory Craft. They might come out with the same machine but once again in a different color and a different price.

I think one might be able to find a few features or stitches are are different between the two brands though, so I would check the specs and features listed plus the prices for both the Janome 1000Cpx and Elna 444 to see if they are the same. These models have the special seam tightening feature that the Elna 434 and regular Janome 1000 CP do not have.
The Elna models also specify an electronic foot control that I did not see specified on the Janome models in their specs..but they might just have been omitted. The electronic foot control gives a continuous power no matter the fabric used.

Been awhile since I checked back here-
I finally went to see my dealer on the Elna CS machine's, they only have the Elna 434 in store, but can order the Elna 444.
Though my dealer said of the seam tightening feature- that she has the 434 and has never a problem with not needing that option.
I thought since there both the same price, why not get that option than if you do need it, it's there for you.
I'm not sure if this is really something I need to have on the Elna - the seam tightening feature?? Does anyone one know more on this I would appreciate more info if anyone knows for sure.
It seems people are getting there Elna's for a lot less than I was quoted. The reg price is $799.99 sale price is $679.99 so that's about $119.00 off the reg price.
Janome is a lot less, just not sure to get a janome as my dealer hardly has classes for any of her machine's there.
Elna dealer has ton's of fun classes.

What is everyone Intake on this, I have before july 24th.
I would like to get this in a few weeks from now.

Thank you.

While I cannot offer an opinion on the models you are referring to, I can tell you I am exceptionally happy with my Elna 745. I've had it for about 10 months now and love it more and more every time I use it.
Elna's are excellent machines (I also have an Elna 6200 sewing machine). They are very well made and super reliable. I have never regretted buying my Elna's (unlike the Brothers I had before) and if anything were to happen to my babies (God forbid and perish the thought!) I would replace them with more Elna's.

I'm glad to hear good reviews on the Elna serger and machine's.
This will be the first Elna for me.

Though like to know more one the Elna 444 that has the seam tightening.
My dealer had hers for a year and loves her's she has the 434 serger.
If anyone knows more, I would appreciate any info you would have.
Thanks
Donna

Janome heads Elna USA and makes their machines to Elna specs. It surely seems that the Elna 444 is much like the Janome 1000CPX with both the Elna and Janome having the seam tightening system. I think I would ask my dealer if there is difference in the two brands and models.
I think the seam tightening feature is a nice feature to have being it helps the thread to lay properly on different weights of fabric.
The STS is explained on the Janome website under the specs for the 1000CPX.

I bought the Elna 434 a few months back...after waiting for a long time.
I like the wider harp area, sews nicely, easy to thread. I got the clear foot instead of using the foot that came with the machine.

The Elna uses the same accessories as the CoverPro 1000 - my dealer told me about this as Elna and Janome are made at the same factory.

Good luck - (see 2 reviews here on PR)

Ithe elna 444 and janome 1000cpx are essentially the same machine. No difference except for the outer colors and design.
