I have a floral cotton twill fabric and am thinking of either making View A of Kwik Sew 3256 or the skirt for Kwik Sew 2923. I'm aiming towards View A (3256) because the side slits would make it cool for the summer. However, since this isn't a stretchy fabric, I'm wondering if it would be a bit snug when I sit down. Guess there's one way to find out...

Kwik Sew 3256
or
Kwki Sew 2923

I kinda like 3256. It just seems to have that something extra about it.

Another vote for 3256. It reminds me of 3032, which I have and love.

I also vote for 3256 - do you think the twill might be a little stiff for the 2923? I think it might not have enough flow - just my thoughts....

Not to be negative, wouldn't most cotton twill be too stiff for either of these patterns?
(or were you planning on the bias)
(I might be overly sensitive, but I just made this mistake on a pattern and the result is.... not flattering on me)

I do like 3256 view A, too.

The fabric is a light cotton floral twill, not heavy like denim. More like a chambray. I washed it and it has a soft drape. Not really flouncy, but it's got some drape and not as stiff as denim. I also wanted to work with 3256 View A. In fact, depending on how this one works out, I was thinking of a light 7 oz denim, with the bottom flounce having some machine embroidery. I've gone ahead and cut out this twill fabric to make the 3256 View A. I'm excited to see how this will work. I did get lots of this fabric because I also wanted to make a jumper (Kwik Sew 2836 View B).

I need to find that other skirt pattern one of you mentioned. I love Kwik Sew patterns.

Actually, there's a way to measure this. Place a measuring tape around your hips, then sit down. The "sitting down" hip measurement is very useful when making skirts or pants. You'll probably want the finished skirt to be at least 1" larger than the sitting hip to avoid unnecessary strain on the seams.

3256 was my vote too. It's really cute. I can't wait to see it made up!

Oh wow! I may barely make it with an inch extra. Worried now. Been working and getting homework done this week. Hope to sew up the skirt this weekend. If I'm lucky, I'll find sewing time before then.
