Thanks for the head's-up about this exhibit. I hadn't heard about it. I will definitely be going!

The Brooklyn Museum has an extensive costume collection but not the space to exhibit nor the $$$ to maintain.. they entered a deal with the Met so the met can exhibit the brooklyn Museum stuff. Did you go to the Met???What did you think??/

I have found that the last few costume exhibits at the met were frustrating.. it was hard to see the garments, hard to see construction details.. They tend to do better when they exhibit in the basement space than when they do the costume exhibits upstairs, the Poiret show was so dark it was nearly impossible t see the clothes.

Not yet (both). This Sat. 22, I'll go. So you recommend Brooklyn Museum over
Met? I might do both in one day.

Hi Ladies! I'm organizing a meet-up at the museum that will include a guided tour of the exhibit and a catered lunch with fellow sewists! It will be on Saturday, June 19th at noon. See my post on my blog for more info:

And e-mail me asap if you're interested! Gertie [at] blogforbettersewing [dot] com.

I'm going to be out of town unfortunately, but if you're in NYC this weekend, the NYC sewing meetup group is having a meetup at the museum in conjunction with Target First Saturday (free talks, films, etc). (Admission is a suggested donation of $10, I always pay suggested donations but I don't think they'll give you the stink-eye if you pay less or even nothing)
