Date: 5/11/10 12:48 PM I'm looking to purchase Simplicity 3504 and found it for less than $3 on ebay (plus $2.15 shipping). Compared to other places, this seems like a good deal, right?
I'm an experienced ebayer (all my maternity clothes) but also believe if it's too good to be true . . .
The listing says new and uncut and the seller has good feedback. Anything I'm not seeing here?

It may just be priced to sell and clear rather than making lots of money. ------

1. Is the pattern damaged in any way (water, moisture, sunlight, pet or pest urine/poop, etc.)? If so, to what extent is the damage?
2. They say it's new and uncut but could any pieces be missing?
Are there pictures included that would clearly show the condition of the pattern pieces besides the envelope? ------

Date: 5/11/10 1:39 PM I've bought & sold uncut patterns on eBay and etsy.com for $5 to $7, including shipping. I've never had a problem.
Currently, I'm working on an uncut, OOP McCall's blouse pattern recommended here on PR. Yes, I found it eBay.

Date: 5/12/10 5:40 AM Here's another sewist that has purchased unused/uncut patterns either on Ebay or from Etsy or other sites on the 'net. You can google for "McCalls XXXX" and a lot of times you will find several places that might have the pattern. I've had great success on several occasions. ------

Date: 5/12/10 11:36 AM I bought a recently discontinued Simplicity on ebay for just a couple dollars - it was less than $5 with shipping (check the shipping costs!). I am very satisfied (and the top is so cute)
I assume this was a pattern obtained at a 99c sale, and this seller is going for high volume/low profit, or they are clearing things out, or both.
If the seller has a good rating and you have carefully read the listing and shipping info, I think you are good. |
