Have you joined the necchi Yahoo groups?

Have a look at McKenna Linn's site.

I'm pretty sure Ed Lameroux has taken down his Necchi page, but his blog may still have some info.

The styling of the two machines is similar.

The Mirella (if I remember right) only offers straight and zig-zag -- but it also offers a built-in handcrank for non-electric operation.

The Lydia is a more modern machine with multiple stitches (although not that many) -- both machines are mechanicals, not computerized. The Lydia uses plastic gears and a camshaft.

Typically, a Mirella will go for several times as much as a Lydia on Ebay -- the Mirella's are much more uncommon (and therefore desirable as collectibles). You may see Lydia's in the $50 to $100 range, while Mirella's go in the $200 to $300 range.
