Date: 5/17/10 10:25 PM I say Jay-Lee, but thinking about this, and because they are in a french speaking part of Canada (and having taken french for 5 years, ) , maybe it should be JaaLee.
I'm curious now too!!! ------ Imaan in Sydney, NSW.

Date: 5/17/10 10:45 PM Imaan I'm with you - I always just thought of it as Jay' lee, but now I'm thinking it's probably more of a French sound - Jhah lee'

Date: 5/17/10 10:49 PM In French it's pronounced sort of like Jah-LEE -- except the "j" sound isn't "j" as in English. It's like the sound at the beginning of Zsa-Zsa Gabor's first name. (sorry, no audio)
.....Oh wait, I know how to explain it (thanks, Wikipedia!) -- that sound (written as ʒ in phonetic symbols) is the same as the sound at the end of the word "beige."

Date: 5/17/10 11:32 PM I just assumed it was the first syllable of Jeanne and the second syllable of Emilie (the founder and her daughter), with French pronunciation as Joan explained. -- Edited on 5/18/10 7:13 AM -- |

Subject: How Do You Pronounce Jalie? Date: 5/17/10 11:43 PM So the way I have been saying it "Jay-Lee" with an American "J" as in Joe, is incorrect and Jah-Lee with the "J" pronounced with French accent as in Jacques, is correct?
By George I think I've got it!
I hope lol

Date: 5/18/10 6:59 AM Wow! I wasn't quite expecting this many possibilities.
I might just try contacting the company and see if I get a response.

Yes, it is correct. The "Ja" in Jalie is prononced like the begining of Jacques. |
