Date: 5/20/10 0:02 AM Hi there! I live on the west side of Indianapolis am wondering if anyone is interested in getting a sewing group together for anyone in Indiana/Central Indiana areas. I think it would really be fun to get together with others for learning and motivation. I don't know many people who sew.
I would classify myself as an intermediate beginner. I work from home so my schedule is pretty open. I also have a good car so I can drive a ways to meet!
Let me know if anyone is interested or if there's already a group that didn't come up when I did a search for it! Thanks. |

Date: 5/21/10 9:57 AM I'm down by Louisville, but I visit Indy fairly regularly for dancing and friends, so if I'm ever in the area when you're meeting up with people, I'd love to join! I'm only 2 hours south of you. ------ http://www.sewfitting.com |

Date: 5/23/10 6:51 AM I live in Michigan, so I would not be able to join your group. However, my sister lives in southern Indiana and I drive through the state to visit her. What I would like to know is, where do you folks buy fabric? I looked online for stores in Indianapolis and it looks like pretty slim pickin's. I figure that 4H must be big in Indiana and Indianapolis is a big enough city to have a good store, but I have not been able to find one. ------ Voet |

Date: 5/24/10 0:45 AM Voet, There is (used to be, anyway) a store specializing in special occasion fabrics on the north side - my parents live near Indy and my mom and I bought some of the fabrics for my wedding dress there. They had some lovely stuff there. There's also the usual Hancock's and Joann's, of varying quality.
Up in northern Indiana, in the Amish area, there are supposed to be some really nice fabric stores, but I've never made it to any of them (although I tried last holiday season).
Paulakiss, there seems to be an ASG chapter in Indianapolis, which looks pretty active. -- Edited on 5/24/10 0:47 AM -- ------ I've moved! Visit my new sewing blog at http://chiralcraft.wordpress.com

Date: 5/25/10 10:01 PM I live north of Indy and usually travel north to Vogue in Chicago for fabric. I would consider Yoder's Department store in Shipshewana, Indiana our state's best fabric store for fashion fabric. They have a decent selection of quality fabric. ------ "Happiness lies in the joy of achievement and the thrill of creative effort." Franklin D. Roosevelt |

Date: 5/26/10 4:08 PM Laura: Thanks so much for sending me over to the Sewing Guild website! I will definitely look into some activities with them!
Sue: I loved going to Shipsuwanna in April. I spent way too much on fabric, but I'm so glad I got it! I usually do my fabric shopping online and sometimes it's hit or miss with the quality I'm hoping for. I'll definitely try Vogue next time I'm in Chicago.
I would still love to get together with some members of PR sometime! Hope everyone's having a good day! |

Date: 5/26/10 10:10 PM Where are you in Michigan? If you are on the western side of the state, do you shop Field's Fabrics? ------ "We don't see things as they are, we see them as we are." Anais Nin

Date: 5/27/10 11:33 AM Well, it looks like we have a couple of interested sewists here in the Central Indiana/Indianapolis area. We're trying to set something up for one evening or a day on the weekend in a couple weeks. Let me know if you guys have any ideas. I was thinking of a kind of meet and greet and maybe a show and tell of projects we're most proud of or having trouble with. Let me know what you guys think! |

Date: 9/28/10 9:17 AM I am here in Muncie, and I would love some sewing buddies to hang out with! Lolly's Fabrics in Shipshe is also great. It is pretty much all quilting fabrics. ------ ~Sarah
