Date: 5/20/10 8:31 PM OK I am making a large wide brim hat out of theatrical buckram. It's stiff stuff. I am confused as to what sewing needle type (on a machine) I would use. Especially if I have to go through layers of fabric such as cotton twill and poly satin. I am wondering if I butcher my fabric with a leather needle. I have a decent sewing machine, I have a old kenmore and I just got a singer 401 slant o matic.
I bow to anyones expertise on this. ------ Sewing is an art that allows me to transform my dreams to reality.

Date: 5/20/10 8:59 PM I usually start with a 14 and move up to a 16 if it doesn't work. I really like denim needles for thick fabrics. ------ My grandmother taught me to sew when I was 10, and I've been sewing ever since. |

Date: 5/20/10 11:03 PM Thanks! I tried searching it on my own. All I could find was don't use a blunt needle or ball pointed. ------ Sewing is an art that allows me to transform my dreams to reality.
