Hey everyone,
Was just browsing the app store and found 2 amazing looking apps.

One is called Fabric Stash, and it lets you snap a photo with your iPhone and then record the details like how many meters you have, etc. You can set it up to sort your fabrics by main colour, style, manufacturer or project. You can create project lists and keep track of what you have and what you need for a given project.

The other app is called Pattern Pal and it lets you keep track of what patterns you have at home and what fabric and notions you need to sew it.

They both look pretty awesome. Pattern Pal is 3.99 and Fabric Stash is 4.99.

I think I'm going to buy them both and try them out....

Please let me know about Pattern Pal! My DH just got an iPad and I'm itching to find something sewing related to do with it :)

Oh my.. I have been wanting to buy an iphone for this very reason. I was hoping there was some way to inventory patterns & fabric for when I was out shopping for more. Hate the duplicate purchase of patterns....

I think I see one in my near future. Please update how well these apps work!

I downloaded the Fabric Stash app and it seemed to be more for quilting projects than for regular fabric. I wasn't really that impressed.

I've just downloaded the pattern one a moment ago . On first glance it looks good you have to input all the info yourself though .

I haven't had much time to play with either of them but I think that the pattern one will be very useful. I am always at the fabric store going "this fabric would be so great for that pattern I have at home" but I can't remember how many meters I need.

I felt the same way - I've had this for quite a few months and hardly ever used it because it's just not very friendly for garment sewing.

But thanks for Pattern Pal! I've still got some money in my iTunes account so I'm going to give it a try.

I've been trying Pattern Pal - potentially quite useful if you are diligent (i.e. spend a while putting the patterns and details in). The only issue so far is that you can seemingly only put in the yardage for one garment per entry. So, if you have one pattern with a jacket, top, skirt, you have to do 3 entries - unless I have missed something. I'm deliberating as to whether it is worth the effort of photographing everything with the phone camera and manually putting in all the details, or my time would be better spent photocopying front and back of patterns and putting them in a ring binder.
