This notice appears on the English Burdafashion.com home page:

Quote:
Dear Friends,

Beginning Wednesday, June 2nd, 2010, the English language Burda Fashion community will be redirected to BurdaStyle.com. BurdaStyle is a vibrant community filled with fantastic sewing resources, including sewing patterns, techniques and discussion boards, much like what you have enjoyed on Burda Fashion.
[message continues]

But what the... BurdaStyle is a sewing "community," with downloads and so on. It serves a different function, and doesn't even have information about Burda envelope patterns. Surely they're going to add the envelope pattern information to the BurdaStyle site?? If not, we'll all have to go to the weirdly dysfunctional German site to get info. about Burda envelope patterns. Not sure why Burda keeps shooting themselves in the foot by fixing what ain't broken.

Sorry if this comes out crabby -- I had only 4-5 hours of sleep.

Boo hiss. Nothing against BurdaStyle website but it isn't really Burda IMHO. But, due to this change, I tried out the Im Translator add-on for Mozilla and it worked very nicely on the German Burda site.

Yeah, that's lame. I go to the German Burda site a lot to look at the envelope patterns (since they fixed their back button issues it's been fine for me, and I think it's updated more often) and to see the magazine previews, but I much prefer the English site to look at the magazine archives. But however you use it.... ugh. Burda, you are trying our patience!!

Really, really BAD NEWS.

I hate the BS site.

And all those allusions are intentional. Blah.

This sucks. The Burda envelope pattern website was THE BEST designed site out there. You could search by item and size ie all skirts in a size 50. I purchased a lot of Burda envelope patterns because this site was so good............

If we are really lucky it's just the "Community" tab that is moving. I can't see that they would merge their online store for commercial patterns with the amatuer BurdaStyle stuff - it will do horrible things to their brand in no time at all. However the Community section has customer photos/forums/blogs and fits right in with the aims of BurdaStyle.

We'll have to see what happens.

The best project you could be working on is the one that's on the table right now.

Yes, I'm curious to see what they'll do. Although if it's anything like their recent switchover to a new online format, we won't know for about five months what the site will end up looking like.
