Date: 6/2/10 6:58 AM Hi,
I just went to the Burda site to look for a pattern I remember from a recent magazine but it is redirecting from burdamode to burdastyle. After typing and googling the address a dozen times I noticed a message at the top of the page redirecting to a second page which indicated that the two wites have been merged.
burdastyle merge info
Maybe that's a good thing as I always did get confused between the two, but on the new burdastyle I have not found anyway to view the magazines, which is pretty much the only reason I ever go to the site. reading the comments below it seems that that won't be possible any more.
Has this been discussed already or does anyone know how to access the magazines on this site?
thanks

Date: 6/2/10 8:34 AM When I used the link, I could only get the last few years of the archives...anyone else have that same problem?
I would hate for the mag to go belly-up, as BWOF is one of the only patterns that fit me (almost) straight out of the mag. |

Date: 6/2/10 8:39 AM Oh, me too. I've only recently discovered that a Burda 40 fits me perfectly through the shoulders and bust. Surely the magazine isn't going under?? ------ proud to be a boutique sewer for Oliver + S

Date: 6/2/10 9:23 AM I hope the magazine will continue! It has recently become available more widely here (Ireland) and when on holidays at the beginning of May in France (and for a little while in Spain), it seemed to be in every newsagent (after I had bought the May copy at home of course ) ------ Reading from Europe |

Date: 6/2/10 11:52 AM To be honest, I seriously doubt there are any plans to scrap the magazine. That has been the core of Burda's business for decades. All this silliness with the websites is stupid and annoying, but I just don't think it will translate into discontinuing the magazine. It's becoming more and more widely available, and while yes, printing magazines and shipping them has costs that online-only patterns don't have, they'd lose the large majority of their business if they no longer had the magazine. Putting the magazine patterns online to download just means they're getting more bang for their buck. The patterns are already drafted and designed for the magazine, so it makes sense that Burda would want to make more money from those existing patterns by selling them to non-subscribers who otherwise would have no access - and whose money Burda is not getting. |
