I'm making Sim2504 and making it from a grey cotton sateen. I cant decide on zip colors. Do I go for a chunky moulded zip? Do I go for a brass zip? Do I go for an aluminium zip.

Ordering from zipperstop since there are no zips suitable where I live. I'm thinking a medium grey, but then thought some of you may have a great idea that I'm just not seeing!

I like medium gray also. It goes with so many things. Love your clothes!

Order both the medium gray (size 3 separating) and aluminum zippers and decide after you receive them. You're bound to use the other zipper on another project.

I think it depends on the overall "tone" you are going for. If you want refined and understated, go for the medium grey. If you want a more casual look, go chunky. If you are looking for edgy - go unexpected...such as brass perhaps or an unexpected colour in chunky...

Greys can be hard to match. If they aren't right they can look very wrong. Do you have the colour card from Zipperstop to match your grey? (If you don't it's worth ordering).

Personally with grey fabric and the way the zip is on the diagonal I'd be using something that contrasts and stands out. Make a statement. Probably a black zipper with aluminium teeth, sewn on the outside of the jacket. Then I'd use matching zippers on the sleeves, again sewn on the outside. That's me though. If this isn't a casual jacket then I'd do something more subdued.

Love the pattern btw. I've never noticed it before.

Ah you're a girl after my own heart Belinda lol. I have just finished sewing black zippers with aluminium teeth onto the sleeves(pic on my blog), and a girlfriend has picked up a 14" for me, so it should be here later this week, fabulous!

I think the pattern is just new? It's great. such an EASY pattern

Snuzal - you have a great eye for a pattern - I haven't noticed this one before but I am just loving it! I would go the black as well as the grey may be hard to match. Looking forward to seeing it made!

Looks good, Snuzal! I really like the contrast. That grey would definitely have been hard to match. I'm looking forward to seeing the final jacket.
