Subject: Pattern for shrug/wrap/shaw/ cape? Date: 6/12/10 7:17 PM Hi,
I need something that can look dressy. It's going over a nice dress.
The fabric is going to be some faux persian lamb.
This can probably be self drafted. If I could get up the courage. Thanks so much. -- Edited on 6/26/10 12:27 PM -- |

I also make Mcalls 5006 and liked that too. Both were great but ultimately I liked the set in sleeve. The pattern in the link was interesting in that it coaches you thru making your own pattern and it worked beautfully for me. |

Date: 6/13/10 1:55 PM Also found McCall's 3880 has a selection that looks dressy. And McCall's 3033 -- Edited on 6/13/10 1:57 PM -- ------ I don't really make mistakes ... Date: 6/13/10 10:12 PM There was an article in Threads a few years ago. It is a good article, and really easy to draft your own pattern. I will look when I have a chance for the issue number. |

Date: 6/13/10 11:36 PM Here's one from Hot Patterns and a tute from Sewing Divas. I've done a couple that are similar but I can't find the links. I'll keep looking.

Date: 6/18/10 12:11 PM You have all been a great help.
After receiving my fabric, it looks like it would be great in one of those capes from the MCCalls patterns.
That is not the direction I expected to go, tho it was in mind.
It was great to hear about the other resources available, too. The websites and blogs.
I'll post a review when I'm done with it. Thanks again.
Right now I'm comparing sources for the microtex 75/11 needles and silk thread the fabric vendor suggested for sewing with this faux lamb velvet. Like always, I'm hoping the result will be worth all this "trouble". Mine and yours. |
