Date: 7/4/10 0:25 AM Free hat pattern preview on facebook

This is a HotPatterns free pattern that will be on fabric.com soon. I think it's really pretty but I wonder is it too fancy? I was thinking I could use a hat today and I think I'll try this out. -- Edited on 7/4/10 0:26 AM -- |

Date: 7/4/10 0:44 AM Awesome - I love it! Nice brim. A perfect hat for the sun I think it can be as casual or as fancy as you want to make it. I'll be looking forward to trying this one. Thanks for the heads up! |

Date: 7/4/10 2:00 AM I think choosing the right fabric can totally change the look. I can see this as a garden hat in a bright, flowery fabric. In fabrics that mimic the drawing, it could look quite elegant. A satiny ribbon bow...creamy fabric. Nice. ------ Lori (visit my blog at: http://monkeyroom.blogspot.com) |

Date: 7/4/10 2:12 AM I'm in great need of a hat but the fabrics confound me. I'm sure fabric.com will make suggestions... hah! |

Date: 7/4/10 3:40 AM Love it! I don't think its too fancy at all, it could be really posh in wild silks or funky in jazzy cotton prints or working in the garden in denims. ------ so many patterns, clamouring to be sewn

Date: 7/4/10 9:01 AM I love this and think it might actually look good on me. With my big old head, it's tough to find a flattering style. |

Date: 7/4/10 10:39 AM That is a cute style!
Although if you're looking for something less fancy (although I think the "fancy" would be more in the fabric and embellishment anyway) Wild Ginger's "Wild Things" program for accessories is free. (On the assumption that patternmaking software is addictive, I suppose. ) ------ My (overly complicated) blog: http://maggiedoll.com/ |

Date: 7/4/10 1:36 PM I think it would look nice in a light tan linen with black ribbon accents too.
ETA: that's what the drawing suggested to me but I have no idea if linen could be used!! I guess the pattern will tell us how to stiffen the fabric appropriately??
That's a cute pattern! -- Edited on 7/4/10 1:37 PM -- ------ Mary
