Date: 7/9/10 7:00 PM I got my hands on some really cute pink nylon and want to make a raincoat for my niece (she'll be 1 in October). I can't seem to find any raincoat patterns out there (i.e. that traditional yellow rain slicker) and am hoping that someone can help. I made one for my cousin years ago, but can't find that pattern in my stash (found the pattern for my high school grad dress, but can I find the pattern I need--no!)
Thanks for any guidance you can provide. |

Date: 7/9/10 9:55 PM Amy Butler has a new one out. It starts at size 3. I don't have it, so I can't offer an opinion!

This is a really cute pattern. I will save the info on it since I am also wanting to make a raincoat for my 2 year old grandaughter .I have the teflon foot ready to go and some cute Michael Miller laminated cotton. I ran to my stack of pattern baskets because I thought I had one. No luck...I guess I was trying to find a pattern too.------ It is common sense to take a method and try it. If it fails, admit it frankly and try another. But above all, try something. ~ Franklin D Roosevelt 1843

Date: 7/9/10 11:18 PM Ottobre did one in their kids magazine - 4/2009. They used Anna Maria Horner's fabric on the cover.
The Amy Butler pattern is fairly new - it is cute. ------ http://kathigarnett.blogspot.com/ |

Date: 7/10/10 2:30 AM The simplicity costume patterns for halloween usually have a firefighter outfit. This makes a well- fitting ( good fitting?) basic raincoat.
In general, the costume patterns seem to fit better than the regular patterns, and I don't know why.

Date: 7/10/10 2:09 PM Thanks so much for all the help. I saw the Oliver + S pattern, and I may end up doing that one, but I never thought of the firefighter costume. I'm off to check that one out. I'll post whatever coat I end up making! |
