Date: 7/22/10 11:59 AM I hope someone can shead some light on my problem. I am(was) using my serger to sew up a swimsuit....it has ruching on the sides and I followed the instructions to use the reg. machine to gather the sides with long running stitches then use the serger or zig zag to sew up the side seams. Great I will use my serger...cool ..it looks great.... then I put it on and the serging did not hold the gathered side...gathered! I pull it and all the gathering comes out and now it will fit the jolly green giant. I'm sure it has to do with my tensions and or settings but I just can't get it right.....many scraps later. |

Date: 7/22/10 12:31 PM How about stabilizing the gathered seam on the sewing machine with a strip of clear elastic and then serging together? The serger stitch will stretch and the elastic will let it do that w/o releasing the gathers. Frustrating, huh? Don't tear your hair out, there's always some solution. |

My guess is that the serger cut off the gathering stitch, then sewed it up sans gathers. ------ Proud parent of a Dwight International School Honour Roll Student |
