Date: 7/28/10 11:14 AM ETA: photos on page 3!
I work for a non-profit society, and on the 2nd floor we have an arts & crafts room for the participants. As I'm working on a mermaid costume for staff who will be on our Pride Parade float, I needed a seam ripper. I didn't want to run home & get mine, so I went upstairs to find one in the sewing supplies.
What I found was...OMG I cannot believe this!!! I found a Featherweight 221K. I sheet you not!!!
As I'm kneeling on the floor to drag out the sewing supllies bin, I dunno why but I looked over into the corner at the back under the counter...and there was a very familiar black box. In PERFECT -as in like new!- condition! I was so scared to lift it, that it would be empty, lol! But nope, it was heavy! I opened it and there's the case tray -like new!- and a ton of attachments and the manual and the foot control -like new!- and a beautiful FW!!! The bed has the usual scratches, so this was a used machine, but OMG it's all in fab condition!!!
So a donation to the society and this baby is MINE MINE MINE and coming home with mama today!!!

Date: 7/28/10 11:54 AM Wow! Amazing find!! Sometimes the moon is in the right phase and our karma points align with the universe and it all works the way it should. My mom's company took over another small t-shirt/team jacket/uniform making business in the late '70's and found all sorts of bits and pieces when they moved in. One was a tailored navy blue wool suit totally modern (for the times) style - high waisted, pleated, lined pants with cuffs and a jacket to die for. We reckoned it had been custom made and would have cost $200 or so at the time (maybe $500 or more in today's dollars) and it fit ME. I wore that thing to pieces, but I am sure you will keep this FW in perfect condition. Congrats again! ------ http://bgballroom.wordpress.com to follow the progress on my next ballgown. |

Date: 7/28/10 12:11 PM I got the Director's ok...it's MINE, wooohoooo!!!
The box is the best I've seen yet! It's in like-new condition, with the full tray also looking like new. There isn't even a scratch in the black metal tray!!! And there's still the cardboard bottom piece inside. And tons of attachments, but no penguin walking foot, which I'd really love to find (my mom had 2 or 3 of them and they fascinated me as a kid).
I can't believe a FW was in my office building the whole time! He's napping in his case under my desk as we type, LOL!!! I'll take pics of him at home. Oh wait! We have a camera here, I'll see if I can get my colleague to snap a pic!
