HI Bluenines, I am so happy to see this posted You would think i was entering the contest, but no Sep is out of control for me already. However i can not wait to see what everybody comes up with. Although i am sad to see fabric covered shoes are not included in this contest i am happy about the aprons! Happy crafting all
ps: i see some shoes are included. Out of curiosity with the exception of house slippers what kind of shoes are these?

if a little voice inside says dont buy that fabric you have so much, you know your not pushing the cart with the loud wheel to the cutting counter fast enough!

Thanks for managing this contest! I was/am hoping to enter, but 5 seperate items (with 4 different looks!!), is probably going to be too much for me.

I have been planning on making an apron for some time. I've got the pattern, fabric and all the notions set aside, ready to go. The apron (Simplicity 3544, the Apliqued, massively bias' bound view A), was my goal. I think that will take me an awefuly long time to make! lol
I really don't have an outfit to accessorize, unless it can be a jeans and nice blouse? (I'm serious).

I haven't crocheted in ages, but it would certainly be fun to try that out again. I never did a great deal of it, but a hat and and a scarf might be a nice change of pace to make.

I have no idea what I would do for the other 2 items. Perhaps a second apron (differnt style of course), and a bag? I've never made a bag of any sort. I don't know...I suppose I could try a larger, backpack style purse. I've always liked those. Sounds difficult though.

I certainly look forward to seeing what others decide to do, I think it will be very inspiring!

If I am able to enter or not, I will enjoy sewing along here :)

Happy sewing!

Very interesting to think about, especially since this contest and the LBD overlap each other. Yes, very very interesting.

This could be a FUN contest to enter. Looks like the committee really did listen to suggestions and the outlined rules should make it easier for the contest manager and contestants to know what is - or is not - to be included. The clarification on 'no purchased items then decorated' makes it clear that items must be 'made from scratch' as they say - and must include some fabric somewhere in them. I would guess that this means that even if an item is knitted, etc, it needs to have fabric added to it somewhere. I assume that the fabric should be visible from the outside so that it shows in the pictures?

Even if I don't enter the contest, I do hope to do a 'sew along'. I have lots of 'too big to throw out' scraps that could be used for this.

Aurora, hope you do enter... your apron sounds delightful.

Actually PittyPat, I just came over to post a question concering exactly the "fabric must be included" rule. I will still make the apron, and perhaps 2 different aprons, for sure, no matter what. :)

Questions:
If you knit or crochet an item, does pre-made fabric have to be included? I could add a fabric flower to a hat (thought that might make me look silly, not sure), but cannot see any possible way to add fabric to a crochet scarf. Or socks for that matter, lol. That would kind of negate the purpose of knit/crochet in a way....since you are technically kind of making your own fabric (since felting is allowed), do you know what I mean?

Does this actually rule out most knitted and crocheted items, then? Or does yarn count as fabric?

Second question, as to the no decorating store bougth items. I completely agree! But for clarification, if I used a basic plastic hair comb (the kind you get 6 or 8 for 99c type), and made an elaborate hair piece with fabric Kanzashi blooms and other fabric decorations that I made from scratch, does that count as a store bought item that is decorated? Since I cannot make my own plastic/metal comb....

Thanks in advance for the answers!

This is the second time today I have seen a reference to LBD, please tell me what this is. I guess I haven't been keeping up with things like I thought I was.

TIA for any info you can pass along,

Good questions! I have had the same thoughts and have asked the mods for some clarifation on them, when I hear I will post the answers , sorry for the wait , but I dont want to say that something will be allowed when it is not.

I am also looking forward to seeing your aprons , sounds like a fun project
