Hello!!!
I am making pinch pleat draperies for my sister! Do you have any suggestions for calculating spaces between pleats?
7 rings, 2" hems on sides, 55.5" finished panel width (including hems)....Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks,
Margaret

If you have 7 rings, you'll have 6 spaces. So, divide the finished width by # of spaces to get the space size.

Subtract the finished width of the panel from the actual width of the panel before pleating to figure out how many inches will be in pleats. Take that answer and divide by # of pleats (7) to get inches in each pleat.

Mark your pleats & spaces. It should go pleat, space, pleat, space, pleat, space, pleat, space, pleat, space, pleat, space, pleat.

I haven't addressed returns, since you didnt' mention that.

This all makes sense in my head. Having trouble explaining it, though.

There's an excellent table that explains how to calculate pleats and spaces in the
Singer More Sewing for the Home book. I can e-mail it to you if you'd like.

Dear clt3
I am a new member and was very interested to read your post saying that you had a table explaining how to calculate pleats and spaces for curtain headings. Culd I be really cheeky and ask you to email this to me. I always struggle doing this and it would make my life so much easier.
thanks so much. Andrea

I would love to but I can't. Dropped my computer 2 weeks ago and can't get anything I have saved. My son is trying to fix it this week. Posting from an iPad and can't scan anything to it.
