I have seen several boys pants with mock fly fronts.
I do not have a pattern but would like to try it. Could someone please explain it to me or point me to a tutorial.

Thank you

Do you mean a mock fly that has a zip but doesn't have a fly shield? (which I don't think of as a "mock" fly at all) burdastyle has a tutorial for that.

If you mean what I think of as a mock fly - pull on pants that look like they have a fly, but it is sewn shut, then you can use a normal pull on pants pattern and add the fly extensions to both fronts. Stitch the lower front crotch seam together to just past the bottom of the fly extension. Then sew the extensions together around the outside of the curve. Press the fly to the side. Topstitch along the folded edge of the fly. Topstitch the fly shape, following the the curve to the centre front seam. A second row of stitching can be added. Add a bar tack at the bottom.

I've got a picture of this somewhere, if you need it, I'll dig it out and scan it.

I think someone posted a THREADS magazine link of the Sandra Betzina video on how to do this. Maybe if you look back over the past couple months of discussion, or search 'zipper' you can find it. Or a threads magazine website search might be faster.
