I bought 7 new fabrics from fabric.com. A wool blend ribbed sweater knit in tan, wool blend jersey sweater knit in dark brown, wool blend sweater knit teal, wool gauze teal, wool jersey sweater knit heather toast, wool blend sweater knit brown/orange, and wool blend knit olive/silver. I really like them. I just cut 4" squares and serged the edges and am going to wash them in cold water to see what happens. I really try to avoid dry cleaning.

Thank you, I noticed the knits on Wednesday evening and was thinking of buying some. So now I guess I will. It doesn't take much to "make me" buy fabric.

Many of them are wool/synthetic (including wool/lycra) blends, which should wash very nicely without much special care and probably no shrinkage. I'd lay them flat to dry, but personally wouldn't worry much about blocking to shape. Those that are pure wool should be washable just as fine sweaters are: carefully, laid flat to dry, and gently blocked into shape/size.

What are you using the wool gauze for?

I'm totally open for ideas! I have not decided but I'm thinking about some goofy pants. Perhaps something like this AKO pants or one of the Marci Tilton pants. I still need to look through my Burda's and then I'll decide. I'm a little reluctant to sew anything right now because I've put on 10 pounds that I'm hoping will magically drop off, just as they magically appeared.

Good to know about these fabrics. I like Fabric.com but you don't always know what to expect. I love sweater knits so knowing theirs are nice is great! May have to buy some... but only if I get some actual sewing done this weekend!
