Has anyone had an experience shopping online at Mood Fabrics lately? There are a couple of reviews, but they are a couple of years old and don't recomment online shopping with Mood.

Second question - how is the quality of the cotton shirting fabrics? They look lovely online, but curious about the online experience and quality of fabrics.

Thanks.

I bought some stretch silk charmeuse online and it was good quality for a fair price. The service was good. I don't know about the shirting specifically but whats online is in the store and the quality is good. Send for a sample if you want to be sure, especially if you need a particular color. I sent them an email question and I actually got an answer, and that is refreshing!

Thanks, Nancy. I was actually looking at their silk charmeuse also. They have a wonderful assortment of colors. Not sure if I want it to stretch though.

I'm not sure which ones you're looking at, but when I was in the LA store a month ago, I spent a fair amount of time looking at/fondling the cotton shirtings. Most of the ones I looked at were $12-$14/yard. I wound up buying some for a shirt for my husband, and he's actually wearing it right now. The quality was quite nice, and I thought that prices were appropriate for the quality.

I've had one not-so-good experience ordering swatches from them (had to get a refund through my credit card), one good swatch experience, and one good fabric ordering experience with them in the last year.

Even after the bad experience, they are still one of my go-to fabric sources due to the good and logical color selection. I was using some of my fabric this weekend, though, and noticed an inch-long pen mark at a selvedge. Irritating, but luckily not a problem for what I was making.

My Yelp review of Mood is at this link.

I should move it over to PatternReview already!

Thank you, Michelle. I would much rather drive to LA and fondle the fabrics than have to order online, but while it's closer to me than NY, it still is a bit of a drive (8 hours?).

I also thought the prices were good if the quality was there and you have given me confidence that the quality will be worth the price.

Thanks for the review! Yelp is great, isn't it? Mood received a lot of reviews - a pretty mixed lot.

Maybe I'll start with a smallish order and see how it goes.

Thanks again.

Has anyone ordered from Mood lately? Seems like the 2 orders (one for swatches, second for fabric) I placed last Fall got to me fairly quickly, but I placed an order on March 20th and it still hasn't shipped.

I haven't ordered from them enough to know if this is usual...is it?

I've only ordered from them once (last year) and it was uneventful. Exactly what one would expect from an online shopping experience. No problems in anything. My fabric came pretty quickly too. But thats also because I am on the East Coast and UPS is only 1 day from NY to me.

I've placed several orders for swatches, buttons and fabrics from Mood over the past few months and they do take their time in shipping things out. But they have an extensive selection of nice fabrics, some of which are priced well. I would recommend Mood as long as you order swatches beforehand since they don't accept returns.
