Subject: software Date: 10/1/10 2:02 PM

Hi Jennifer,

About the upcoming class: I don't have any embroidery software at this point. I have a Bernina 165, a Magic Box and some embroidery designs on CD and cards that I've been using. I have a very old version of ArtLink, which I haven't even used and something called Embroidery Magic that came with the Magic Box, that I have yet to install. The only way I can make any changes to designs is in my machine. Will I be able to take this class?
Right now, when I want to combine designs, I print out templates from my printer and then manipulate them on the fabric until I get a composition I like, then I embroider each design individually. I've only done very minor combining on the screen of my machine.
I would love to purchase software, but it's so expensive! I would appreciate any suggestions for software that won't break the bank and is fairly sophisticated.

Thanks,
Kathryn

Subject: re v 5 software Date: 10/3/10 2:16 AM

I now have Charlotte's email address - the reason she has v5 for sale is that she lost her dongle and purchased another copy. Then of course she found her dongle.
Her email is cmelton2210@hughes.net - good luck.

Hi Kathryn,

I am going to show how to do it both ways (software and templates).... A little more advanced (Like grouping designs, and using that for a template.) The idea is very similar to the border lesson in the First embroidery class I taught. I am going to show how to "Embroider a combined design template" to make the process easier to make elaborate designs. Hope that helps your decision process--Let me know, Jen

Hi Jen,
I can only embroider in a 4" hoop. Will that be OK? When I need to combine designs, I use Dakota Sizer and then load it to my Magic Box. Will you be instructing us in how to make larger deigns with multiple hoopings? I must have missed your border lesson so will I have problems since I missed that class?
Thanks,
Rose O
