In the most recent Hancock's flyer, they advertise their exclusive "Kashmir" fleece as "feels and behaves like Boiled Wool".

I'm just curious if the claim is true. I don't go to Hancock's much - mine doesn't carry much other than fleece and quilting cotton. But if the Kashmir fleece is nice, it could be a less expensive alternative to the real thing.

I was curious about that, too. I was at Hancock's yesterday, and I don't think it really looks like boiled wool. I didn't buy any of it. Pat

Pure boiled wool is such a sweet fabric; it's flexible but sturdy--and because it's wool, you can mold it with steam. I don't know of any synthetic fleeces that respond to moisture that way.

I don't have any experience with sewing wool, but I saw this in the store and it looks and feels so nice. It looks like a wool from afar, but you can tell it is a synthetic up close. Not cheap looking, actually rather nice, but just not wool. I want to try making a coat out of it, but I'm worried about how it will hold up after washing.

Has anyone tried this out yet? I might get an 1/8 of a yard and see how it does.
