Date: 10/9/10 9:09 PM It looks like it was used as a boat anchor. Most of those "shells" are really barnacles. ------ Doo-doo-DOO-doo, Doo-doo-DOO-doo......

Date: 10/9/10 10:08 PM This is I think the 3rd time she's listed it. The first time it went quite high, over the $600 range, if I recall, but still didn't meet the reserve.
Imagine trying to ship that anywhere without the barnacles and shells breaking!
Definitely not my cuppa...I would have sent the machine to Leo or Greg for professional refinishing. But as PPling said, better than tossing it out. ------ I heart Panzy, Pfaff Creative Performance, the sewing machine love of my life! Date: 10/9/10 10:22 PM Aluminum Rot, IIRC, is really just BAD oxidation. But, there's no cure for it. Once it's hit, it's done. :/
I do think you can sand it off (so's to speak) and paint over. But you can't just clean it off. Just cleaning it would be like a band-aid over a gaping chest wound. ------ ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
