I just came from an old sewing machine store in North Hollywood, CA. The business closed five years ago and all the machines, literally HUNDREDS, just sat there. This new guy took over the lease and is now selling them. When I say hundreds, there are hundreds. Most of the machines were trade ins and some were broke coming into the shop, but are there for parts.

Now for the other part of the news. First and foremost, about 50% of the machines are Singer Touch and Sews. The other 50% are a good mix of Kenmore, Bernina, Necchi and a few others. I did see a few Singer 301s and he has quite a selection of older Singers as well.

It's DEFINITELY worth checking out! I actually picked up some hinges for my Kenmore while I was there. The guy is super nice and will let you linger as long as you want. Check out the link and the pics....

Sewing Machine Store

I went and since I am somewhat of a Touch and Sew guy, I was in heaven. But there were a ton of other machines there.....if you live in the area, check it out. I thought I'd be there about 20 mins and spent over an hour just browsing.

Are the prices reasonable? Will the owner bargain? Do the machines come with feet, foot pedal, bobbin case, etc?

He doesn't have prices on any of the items, but I got the feeling the owner will bargain. Long story short, he knew the old sewing machine shop owner. He took over the lease some time ago after the place sat untouched for five years. He has his own collectible business and is just trying to sell what he has in the shop. Most of the machines need some time of adjustment or fix and some I would consider just parts only. But there are some really cool retro and vintage models in there. And believe me, if you see a machine that is like yours and you just need a part off of it, he'll let you do that.

As for bobbins, foot pedals, bobbin cases and feet....he has drawerfuls. I would say half the machines there have no feet on them, but he showed me a drawer with just Singer feet. There was so much stuff there, I was literally amazed. I even saw one box just full of motors.

I've been looking for a Futura 900 and T&S 750 and there were about 20 of them in there in varying degrees of shape. He said I could have one Futura with pedal for $30. Not bad and the shape was pretty good.

It's quite a set up and I can tell you I will be going back again soon. I took the hinges off a Kenmore machine for my cabinet at home and he only charged me $3.

Where do you live Soolip? The place was amazing.....like I said, lots of machines that need repair, if not most of them, but there are a ton of machines and parts EVERYWHERE.

I know he has one gal in there that cleans them all out and oils them and fixes them up. She was working on a real cool turquoise blue machine that I didn't get the name of.

Hollywood.

I don't collect machines, but I do like to fix them. Would be cool to check the place out.

'Twould be great if you could snag any good Featherweights for someone who madly loves them. Like...oh, I dunno...me?
