Date: 10/23/10 1:27 AM I impulsively bought this pfaff 1222 on a garage sale for $30 with a case extra feet and bobbins. Now when I plug it in then turn it on it seems to go/start without even pressing the foot pedal!! She is fast! But I don't know why she will just start just by pressing the red power button. Can anyone help me? The seller said I can return till Sunday, but I kinda want it to work... Any suggestions please??? Thanks in advance

Date: 10/23/10 2:19 AM for thirty bucks (with extra feet, bobbins, etc,) I'd get that machine just to figure out what the problem is. It's a well thought of machine. Is it possible an owner is using the Japanese cords from another machine/ Is there a double plug- one for lights and one for machine? If the machine gets plugged into the lights socket, it just runs without control. However, I'm still thinking about your dilemma. I have a 1212 and I will look at it to see. Bert |

Date: 10/23/10 5:53 AM Take that baby to a technician and see if the problem can be fixed. I've owned a 1222E for 29 years and this machine is one fantastic piece of equipment. ------ Pfaff QE4.0, 1222E, 796

Date: 10/23/10 6:01 AM The plug is just one and it divides into the socket and foot pedal. It says it is made in Germany. There is no additional plug just for lights. When I push the redbutton it will stitch on it's own without pressing the foot pedal.
I'm planning on keeping it but first I want to fix it. I did look inside and the cams are all intact, belt is fine, no rust damage. However tho I can open it, I don't know how to fix it. Bobbin works fine. ------ Live what you preach |

Date: 10/23/10 7:16 AM Probably just a short somewhere in the line. Should be an easy fix.
Here is a review someone gave on it. Looks like you got a good deal.

Date: 10/23/10 7:22 PM First, get an estimate on any problems, and of course find out what the problems may be - that might not be the only problem. If your gears and cam stack are in good shape - it would be well worth - say - 150 or so to get this machine into tip top shape. They sell into the 250 to 300+ area on eBay sometimes. If it is a 1222E it is worth a bit more. Good luck. Mine is in good shape - now 33+ years old. ------ "Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible."

Date: 10/23/10 7:30 PM Unfortunately it is just a 1222.. Yep estimate then fix.. I really don't want to spend more than $100. Or maybe I will, but not right now I like how it has all the feet that I can or my mom can use.. I believe it has normal, clear, blind hem, zipper, darning, and 3 more that I do not know yet.
My husband just left it there. He said the dealer was busy so he just left the machine and they told him they will just call when it is checked out.
Maybe I will bug them tom. I couldn't do it today because I had to go to class. ------ Live what you preach |

Date: 10/28/10 11:44 PM kinda disappointed.. the dealer's technician does not want to fix it.. They didn't even tell me the details. They said the owners are out of town and will be back next week if I want the details.. pretty lame. ------ Live what you preach |
