Date: 10/25/10 9:55 PM When I announced last year about the PatternReview book 1,000 Clever Sewing Shortcuts and Tips, (which is now in it's 2nd printing), I also announced that all my royalties will be donated to National Breast Cancer Foundation when it kicks in.
I also distributed my advance to all the contributors in this book.
That was May, 2009.
The compilation of this book has been a real rewarding experience for me personally not only because I get to see the wonderful little bits of advice from so many of our members in print but also because I am blown away by the generosity and support you all have demonstrated.
More than half of the contributors asked for their honorarium to be donated to NBCF as well and today being the National Breast Cancer Awareness Day it was a good day to send it. We sent $1,855 today to National Breast Cancer Foundation!
So with a smile on my face and moist eyes, I say THANK YOU!

Date: 10/25/10 10:05 PM Thank you Deepika. In the time since you first mentioned the book, and the donation recipient was decided upon, my sister-in-law was diagnosed and treated for breast cancer - I doubt there is one of us whose family hasn't been touched by cancer. Thank you your hard work, the book and the donation and the helpful informative updates.

Date: 10/26/10 0:14 AM How wonderful! It really shows you how the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. Each tip in the book by itself wasn't much, together it really is something. Same for the money given to the participants. Separately, not much. Pooled together, something big. |
