Endless Combinations Contest
November 15 to December 14, 2010
Update: All of the dates are correct now. Thanks for your patience!

The goal of this contest is to build a flexible wardrobe of pieces that always have something they can be worn with!

How to create an Endless Combination:
Start with one garment, and then each subsequent Combination garment you sew goes with one of the Combination garments that you have already sewn. No chance of stranded garments with this method! The more you sew, the easier it is to match up to a previously sewn item.

The key word with this contest is "one": each new item sewn must match one of the previous items sewn for the contest.

Example: Sew skirt A. Sew blouse B that goes with skirt A. Now your garment C could pants to go with blouse B, or a shirt to go with skirt A. Garment D could be another blouse that goes with skirt A.

The more you sew, the easier it will become to match your latest project to a previous one!

A minimum of 4 items must be included. You may do multiple Endless Combination entries, but each entry must include the minimum 4 items.

There will be a 1st place winner determined by member vote, and a random drawing winner.

prizes:
First Prize: $100 Gift Certificate
Random Entry Prize: $75 Gift Certificate

*Rules that apply to all contests:

2. Unless otherwise stated in the rules, patterns may be drafted, tweaked, and muslined before the contest date, but fabric for the pieces entered may not be laid out or cut till the start date of the contest. Fabric may be pretreated before the contest date.
3. Items intended for sale, or for which you were or will be paid to make, do not qualify for any contest, but items made for charity are welcome!
4. Unless otherwise stated in the rules, all reviews written for a contest entry must include a picture of the entry.

I'm really looking forward to seeing all the lovely things that will be made for this contest. I think it really allows for a lot of creativity and variety! It's still almost 2 weeks away, but I see a lot of enthusiasm already.

If no one minds, I'll be sewing along in miniature. I've been planning on making my DD's 11-1/2" dolls a wardrobe besides that of Cindarella and Sleeping beauty, for a Christmas present for her. It will be fun to have a lot of doll clothes my DD can mix and match.

So, I ask you to all please read the rules carefull, and if you have any questions, please feel free to ask. I'll be checking the thread at least once a day, so I'll try and get back to everyone as soon as I can.

Here is a link to Endless Combinations 2008, for your reference. Hope this helps!

I'm looking forward to sewing along with everyone for Endless Combinations!

NOTE: The header has been corrected, and all the dates listed are accurate now. Thanks everyone for your patience!

Yay! I'm so excited! I think I have my projects planned out. I have all the patterns but I need fabrics. I was going to get them from Fashion Fabrics Club, but it sounds like their shipping is pretty slow & their quality is hit or miss?

I can't wait to see what everyone else sews up!

I want to participate too but am swamped. I am also STILL trying to participate in the One Pattern but that might not be happening. I will have more time in this one to put out some really nice pieces. But in the mean time I will still lurk and snoop in the threads.

I think I'm in! Right now I have no special sewing plans other than a general wish to make DH some shirts for Christmas. So ... perhaps I can sneak Endless Combinations in for me!

I think my first piece will be the Jalie jeans in some black denim I have... that's a good starting point.

Aroura,
Would you verify the dates of the Contest, please?

The headline of the thread title says November 1 to the 14; the above quoted section of the text says November 15 to December 14.

Thanks, Lily

Good catch, Lily. In the 2010 Contest thread, it looks like Endless Combinations goes from November 15 to Dec 14. Hopefully that's still the case. :)

From Aroura's post above:
