Date: 11/5/10 7:45 AM I purchased a Babylock Evolution in August . I love this machine but I have one dilemma. It came with Organ EL x 705 CF needles which work great but I need more needles. I went to an authorized dealer who sold me the Schmetz needles (System EL x 705) but when I went to do an overlock stitch they did not work. I used the last of my Organ needles and they were fine. Does anyone know where to get these needles?

Date: 11/5/10 8:43 AM Can't help with the Organ needles but just bought a new Janome serger - the dealer told me that sharp point needles are what is now recommended for sergers - gave me a pack of Janome Red Tip Needles.
I wonder if you try a sharp point needle such as Schmetz Microtex Sharp if that would help.
I am not entirely sure of why the switch to sharp point needles for sergers - apparently because of the pounding serger needles take sharps are considred best |

Date: 11/5/10 10:40 AM I can't imagine why the Schmetz needles wouldn't work. Maybe they are not inserted all the way? Just a thought. |

Date: 11/5/10 3:26 PM Hello, I had the same question about my Evolution after extensive reading of my manual "Inspiration Guide" and internet searches I came up with this pdf. See page 2 --the middle of the page--for more info on the needles you can use.
I chose to buy the Organ Needles --and got them from an internet seller who gets great reviews. I'll check to see who that was and get back to you if I can find it.
Enjoy your Evolution.

ETA: CTS USA was the site I bought them from-100 for $12 and free shipping

Date: 11/5/10 6:55 PM Can you explain what did not work when you tried your overlock stitching? Could you be using the wrong size of EL needles?
I use the Schmetz EL x 705 needles in my Coverlock in both size 80/12 and 90/14. My other serger that is a basic serger also came with the same needles.
My coverlock can also use coventional 130/705 needles for special fabrics and when using special threads if needed.
Maybe double check to see if you have the needles all the way up into the needle bar as far as they will go and that they are inserted correctly and not turned. Oh, and also check that your thread tower is fully extended because this can also make a big difference. Good luck to you. |

Thanks |

Date: 11/11/10 9:28 PM I use most all kinds of needles in my Janome 204D and it works fine. I just make sure they are all the same type.
I have used embridery, quilting, denim, sharp, ball point universal and they all work equally well. |
