Hi Ladies, i hope you can help me. Here is my story. My son works for a railroad. Several years ago he saw an embroidery design for an engine. At the time he was working for another company so we did not buy it. Now he is working for that company , driving that same train and he would like a new hat & scarf set to represent his new position. Problem is it is not sold anymore. It was sold by Dakota Collectibles. It is from their 1990 - 2010 collection. It is called train engine TS006. I have found a commercial embroiderer using it but he will not sell me a design even though this was the suggestion of Dakota. Both the company and the retailer have not been helpful. They did not bother to even read my request completely.
If anyone has the design and would like to sell it to me please contact me.

Janlynn, I do not believe that it would be legal for either the commercial embroiderer or any PR member to "sell" you this design.

When you purchase the Dakota Collectibles, like any other machine embroidery design, you are purchasing a LICENSE to use the design file, subject to the restrictions of the license holder. You cannot re-sell the design file to anyone else, nor can you transfer the license.

The only legal way to acquire this particular train design file would be to purchase the Dakota Collectibles collection that contains it. Expensive, I know, but that's the way it works.

Could you perhaps post an image of what the design looks like? We maybe could help you find something very similar that could be purchased at a more reasonable cost.

I understand your concern but I am just getting frustrated. I contacted Dakota and they say they don't have it. The commercial embr. has it and says it is from Dakota. I want to buy it but no one wants to sell. Perhaps someone knows of a seller they can direct me to . I would never ask anyone to do anything illegal. Photo can be found on my Flicker album. Thanks for any help anyone can give me.

Please join the yahoo group ..sewitsforsale.... you can then post a request to buy it there.. I see these listed all the time and you don't have to wait for someone to list a sale of it.. you can request to buy there also.. so that if someone has it..and sees your request..they might consider selling it to you. Members must follow policy when buying or selling there..and not everything is permitted. but I do see design CDs and cards for sale there everyday. Good luck.

I didn't see yours in a quick google search, but i found what looks like the same train (to me, anyway) from a different perspective.

Good luck with your search!

Ebay usa used to have a want to buy area (I was looking for vintage photos of a particular place and posted a request there years ago), you may be able to post a request for the CD collection there to purchase, there are a few dakota resellers on ebay.

I take it that it's the black lines on the engine that you're really looking for right? I looked through my collections and couldn't find the one with the stripes.

Thank you everyone. Yes the stripes are what I am looking for. My son is a bit OCD (geek) about trains. This one is called a "zebra"and this is the one he works on.
Anyway, I will continue my search using all your suggestions. Thanks so much for your time and effort. The PR message board never lets me down. Sorry for the late response but my Mac crashed! I didn't think they did that. So I am back on the PC until I get to the "Genuis Bar". I love that name. I wish they served cocktails.
