Why no seam guide?

I was given a Pfaff 935 purchased twenty years ago. There is no seam guide on the throat plate. To compensate, I marked common seam allowances on a piece of transparent tape and attached it to the existing throat plate. I've tried to find a throat plate accessory but not had any luck.

Is it common on Pfaff machines that there is no seam guide on the throat plate? Any suggestions for an alternative?

Perhaps European sewists tended to sew on seam lines, rather than aligning the fabric edge with a marking. If so, it explains Burda.

Anyway, this site sells adhesive stickers.

The throat plate is so tiny on the 935, is there really any room for markings? Most of the later Pfaffs have a larger plate so there was room for metric markings, though English measurement plates are now available:

My Pfaff does have seam guide markings on the plate. Some older machines in other brands also have no guide markings. Owners with the machines with no seam markings used to use tape on the beds of their machines as seam guides.
