I'm making my sister a blouse and a skirt. Here are the two fabrics.

I plan on using the floral print fabric for this blouse and the other fabric for this skirt. What are your thoughts? Is it too matchy-matchy? Is it juvenile? Please be honest. :)

I think it is very pretty... not juvenile, but very girly. Is your sister a girly girl? Does she wear pearls, and heels and is pretty in pink? Is so, then I think you have winner.

It looks like spring. I'm sure regional fashions are dictated by the weather. Around here that outfit wouldn't be worn until at least April, maybe late March with a cardigan.

Thank you skae, RockNRoll, and PattyU for your thoughts.

Yes, my sister is a girly girl. And this outfit will be for spring and summer. We live in Georgia, so hopefully she could wear it as early as March.

And I will make sure to post pictures of the final look.

And I'm sorry about the double post. I first posted here, but then realized I should have posted it in the Fabrics and more section, so I did, but then I realized I couldn't delete this post.

Thank you again!

I love the fabrics and patterns! I can see it with some really fantastic buttons on the blouse and maybe wide belt at the waist of the skirt. I, too, live in Georgia, and would wear it early spring with a cute jacket or sweater.

That's a beautiful combination. Not juvenile at all -- I'm 46 and I'd wear it in a heartbeat because the print, despite being a little abstract, is not at all cartoonish and the texture of the solid is wonderful.

As for "matchy-matchy", ...

Hoping that you take the question in the positive spirit intended, why have people become afraid of having their clothing properly co-ordinated in well-combined outfits?

Whenever I see people in those "close but not quite" combinations they pick to avoid "matchy-matchy" all I can think is that they are either a little color-blind or need better light in their closets/bedrooms/bathrooms.

Go right ahead and dare to be beautifully co-ordinated.

The fabrics look good together. Very springy and classy. I wouldn't say matchy matchy I would definitely say they complement each other for a sheek designer look.
