Has this already happened? Maybe I am missing some notices.

Hi Mislyn,

You haven't missed anything! This is the January Club... December is Free Standing Lace, which starts on the 15th of this month. Let me know if you need any more help! Jen

Hi, I don't digitize. Do I have to digitize to be able to do this kind of embroidery machine applique? I have a Janome 350E and am quite new.
Thanks, Elaine

Hi Elaine,

This is not a digitizing class. We are going to download a free design and learn how machine embroidery applique is accomplished! As long as you can get a downloaded design onto your 350E... you're all set. If memory serves me correctly, you can save designs in .jef format on a USB jump drive (memory stick) ... Then you can put the memory stick right into the machine to retrieve the design to use! Let me know if that was clear. Thanks, Jen

Could you give us more guidance about finding the free design, as there are over 1000 of them ! Thanks
Lisanne

Subject: Help finding design? Date: 12/31/10 4:06 PM

Hello - I have the same question as Lisanne - I can navigate to the Secrets of Machine Embroidery site listed but can't find the free design we're using in the class.

Thanks -

Elaine B.

EDIT - Found it: Designs by Petro → Applique Cuddles Embroidery Designs

Subject: How to find the free design on Secrets... Date: 12/31/10 4:34 PM

Hi everyone,

Here's how to find the free machine applique design. Click on the link in the class description. The design is by "Designs by Petro" (it is in the last row, the third one down.) Click on the applique santa and tree. Then click on "Applique Cuddles". (I think it's a cute baby tiger?) Finally, scroll to the bottom of the page and you'll see our little bird as a download freebie!

Please let me know if you have trouble. (Also, keep in mind that you can also use an machine embroidered applique design that you already own, or any other design that you see that you'd like to purchase.) ... I just wanted to have the same design available for everyone to practice with (Plus it will be pictured in the step-by-step lessons!)

Happy New Year everyone, and I can't want to embroider with you!

Lisanne

Thanks Jen - found it - those Appliqué Cuddles are very cute :D

I hope this class will stimulate me to start using my embroidery machine again - though I must say one of my problems with m/c embroidery is I keep being tempted by all the lovely designs. My embroidery design stash may be bigger than my pattern stash and my fabric stash. . .

Hi Jen -

I have done applique before - Digistitches and Five Star Font designs (are you familiar with them? They are cool stuff made in the hoop and several things have applique monograms on them). Do you have an outline so I can see what is being covered to determine if I will be learning anything new and different? Since I am taking the hem and serger class, if this info is fairly basic, I may skip this month..... but maybe not.....

Thanks - Deb S
