I found this great deal on a refurbished janome 9102 serger and refurbished janome 11554 for $134. They had them poste seperately for $199 and $189 respectfully. Now i have but the janome 11554 sewing machine refurbished at overstock for $20. It is a basic sewing machine that normally sells for around $65. Well, I knew it was a great deal. They had it listed for the $134 all day sunday and monday and at least part of Tuesday. I had also ordered a presser foot pack for my other janome machines.
received an email too late in the day to call today saying that cant fill my order due to shipping problems. They have refunded the money. i looked back on the website and saw that it says to call for that combo price and others. So I am sure they are just raising the price.
I was giving one sewing machine as a gift. I immediately emailed them and told them that if was shipping, they could wait and send it later. That i felt like they must have changed the price. I am also upset cause i dont get the presser feet.
I know there was a problem where Hancock said they had the wrong price. But this was listed for at least 2.5 days. I have always had good luck with them. But I will never shop there again if they can just change there mind. Does anyone know how i can get these machines. I have a receipt of my purchase paid. Thanks

Hi, I tried to order a laptop from Sears/Kmart.com. They refused to honor the price, but it remained on the website for the next day. I guess the figure that we'll just order something else.

You might call the consumer reporter at your local newspaper or news show.
My local paper had an article about a similar thing that happened at Frys Electronics, and when the reporter called, the store gave them the deal, even thought it was cancelled.

Well I don't know about the internet, but if it's in a sales flyer, and states that the price is in effect till a certain date, they generally have to honor that. This happened to Lowe's a few years back when they had a typo in the weekly ad. I managed to snag a Kitchenaid Aritsan mixer for I think around $120 or so.
What a scam. Something should be done about this. It's basically bait and switch! Yes, they are just hoping you will go ahead and pay the higher price.

That was a great deal on the mixer Mary!
I do not understand how companies keep doing that bait & switch. Two weeks ago we went to an advertised Microwave sale at ...dare I say it SEARS...when we got there not quite an hour after they opened the clerk said oh there was only ONE of those in our store but we have plenty of others. YEAH for an awful lot more MONEY!!! Grrrr.....!!!! We did not buy any.
Can't the poster insist that since she already paid they honor her price paid for the sm? I do not get it???

Finally a whole week above zero! Whoo hoo! ~smile~

I for one would be interested in whose site this was.. This is happening way too often . At too many sites.. I am beginning to think like Mary..its beginning to smell like a bait and switch .
GENERALLY, if they took your money.. then there was a contract formed and they must give you your machine at the price you paid.. however.. if it was a charge.. then they usually don't fully charge off to your card until its shipped.. which is one of the problems we were having with making Hancocks perform on their offer. If you think its a bait and switch.. you can report them to your Attorney General in your state for investigation. And you could stay on top of them and continue to ask for the deal you were offered before. Good luck and let us know..

That's how it USED to be, unfortunately. Not any longer, though. They wised up at our expense and use disclaimers. :/

@ Overstock.com:
"Prices and availability of products on our Site are subject to change without notice."

"Promotional sales may end with or without notice."

"Upon termination of the sale or promotion, we are under no obligation, express or implied, to extend promotional sales terms or pricing."

"Incorrect prices sometimes appear on our Site, despite our best efforts."

"When the correct price of a product is higher than our stated price, at our discretion, we will contact you for instructions before dispatching the order, or reject the order and notify you of such rejection."

"If a pricing error is reasonably obvious and unmistakable, we are under no obligation to provide the product to you at the incorrect (lower) price, even after we send you an Order Confirmation or Shipping Confirmation."

https://help.overstock.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/48/c/3

It doesn't even have to be on the main page, just on the site. :/

I've done fly-out ads for major stores and they use this disclaimer (or one similar) specifically for that purpose. And you betcha I asked about it. And it wasn't pretty. o_O

Here's my own disclaimer: I do NOT approve or condone those disclaimers. Personally, while I can understand the consequences (AKA, losing a LOT of money) a company can incur honoring pricing "mistakes," I still think it's weasley and crappy for them to do so. And I think it flies in the face of "customer service." :/

I called them today. They said that the shipment of these sewing machines to them was damaged. I asked if it was the serger or sewing machine, but she didnt tell me.
I just went on the website and they have the same combo for 299 not the 134 that i saw it at and purchased. They did not charge my credit card. But i do have the receipt. I think the fact that the sales price was on for at least 2.5 days they should honor that.
