Date: 12/27/10 9:50 AM DH is buying me a dressform as my Christmas present. Right now I am thinking of getting a Fabulous Fit, but can't decide between the regular one with a cage or the 3/4 body with partial legs.
My first biggest question is how do you get the pants onto the 3/4 dress form?????? I have done a search and can't find anyone addressing this issue. Does the form come off the stand, and if so, is it a big hassel each and every time?
I assume that with the regular (legless) form, fitting pants waistband, etc would still work out OK. I did read in another thread about the crotch being best fit on your body anyways since movement is a key factor--that does make sense.
What is everyone's opinion on the need for collapsible shoulders? How difficult is it to get a fitted top on non-collapsible shoulders? Is the removeable arm REALLY useful or just "nice to have"?
Thanks for your input. DH really wants me to have a dress form so that I can confidently start doing more sewing for me (as lots of my sewing right now is directed at my girls). -- Edited on 12/27/10 9:58 AM -- |

Date: 12/27/10 10:14 AM I have two FF dress forms, one full body and one 3/4
The only issue is that because the legs do not come off, you must pad the form from the bottom up. It is much easier to pad a dress form from the top down. It doesn't move the padding around.
It does come off the stand and it is not difficult, just awkward.
I keep the full body one Dressed all the time--otherwise, that's me standing naked in my studio ------ Sandra

Date: 12/27/10 10:54 AM You might want to hurry on a decision. I called them last week after seeing that some of their forms were on sale (not the consumer-directed models, unfortunately). I was told that they are getting out of the dress form business and are soon going to be taking the final orders. I decided not to mess around any longer and ordered one.
I wasn't given a date or anything specific, but if you know you want a Fabulous Fit form, give them a call, don't wait. |

Date: 12/27/10 5:31 PM If they are getting out of the dress form business, that could explain why their padding system was on sale at Amazon.com and Allbrands for only $69. I got one of the padding systems (it comes with the pads and two covers for a dress form) and am using these pads on a uniquely you dress form - the pads are great, and the dress form covers are very good too. Of course it cost me about $40 more for shipping, taxes and duty to Canada - but still well worth it. ------
