Date: 12/27/10 3:01 PM This sew-along is to help us keep track of our progress on a monthly basis.
General guidelines:
At the beginning of each month, post what your goals are for that month. At the end of the month, please post how you did for that month.
Any time you want to share how you are doing, need a little motivation, or want to encourage others please post. We will keep each other motivated. -- Edited on 12/29/10 9:40 AM -- ------ Beverly

Date: 12/27/10 5:55 PM I have big plans for January but if I can accomplish 2 goals I will be really happy:
Make a Thomas the Tank Engine blanket for grandson's birthday
Make a kilt for DH to wear to Robbie Burns social at the end of the month
So I'm in -- hopefully I have better luck completing my goals in 2011.

Date: 12/27/10 9:13 PM For January:
1. I would like to make a cape from my SEW Workshop book. I have the fabric. I need to buy the lining and some notions for it.
2. Not sure if I will try the stash contest. I am thinking about it.
3. Finish a Simplicity top that I started awhile ago and haven't finished.
4. Maybe sew a handbag from SEW Workshop book. It's been cut out and just sitting there waiting to be sewed.
5. Forgot to add that I would like to read my new RD's Sewing book and pick a pattern from it to work on for February.
Hmm...these seem like lofty goals. Hopefully, I can even do one or two of them. Then I will be happy.
Forgot to ask: How does this sew along work? I'v never done a monthly goal one before. Do we check in each month with our goals and let everybody know what we've done?
Thanks! -- Edited on 12/28/10 0:51 AM -- |

Subject: Monthly Goal Sew-Along for 2011 Date: 12/28/10 3:53 PM For January 2011....does it seem possible it will be a new year already?!
1) reorganize sewing machine area so I can find my accessories better
2) cover for DH new netbook
3) iron & cut out 2 shirts that did not make it this year.
4) knit Mom's washcloths for her birthday
5) make promised cover for DH food processor & bowl ...
6) mending DH work clothes
That is about all I think I can handle right now.
Oh new Featherweight book just came...I will fit reading that in too!

Date: 12/28/10 11:05 PM Sorry I've been missing in action. Life has gotten in the way of sewing, but I guess i should be thankful that what is getting in the way is a new job (or jobs I should say; in this economy that is a lot to be thankful for). I'm happing that a healthy group of people continued the monthly sew along (thank you!) and that it seems that new friendships have grown out of it. Hope it will still be useful for this year.
For January I would like to do some small project for the home to see if i can get going again.

Date: 12/29/10 12:10 PM Great sew along!
My goals for January:
1) Finish the last 2 scrub tops for my friend.
2) Use up my 2 older pieces of fabric in Stash Contest (one skirt..one not sure). Not that I have a very big stash, but I really want to use those 2 fabrics!!!
3) Take my sewing machine in for professional cleaning and tune-up. It sounds terrible lately. :(

Subject: Monthly Goal Sew-Along for 2011 Date: 12/30/10 8:58 AM Count me in! I plan on using up as much stash as possible by sewing or donating. I always put my credit cards away in January so I know I will not purchase any fabric. Last year around Sept., I vowed to sew or do something sewing related for 30 minutes a day and it was a great help in getting projects done. But first, I need to have my machines serviced--time slipped away with the holidays and family...... |
