Just wondering if any of our PR folks are being affected by the flooding in Australia. Hope everyone is well and safe.

Yes, we hope you are safe. I just read that the flooding covers an area as large as France and Germany together! That's a huge area.

The weather world wide has been very turbulent.
I hope all our friends every where are safe. But those that might be or have been in harms way, you are in our thoughts and hopes.
Best wishes to all this new years eve.

More rain---6 inches in an hour! They had a flash flood around Brisbane, so no warning to get out of harm's way. There were several deaths and many are missing. Our hearts go out to our friends in Australia.

Jtinks.. if you are ever up in the middle of the night..you will see our AU thread Sewing Down Under come up quite frequently.. In any case.. there has been postings about the flooding on that thread.

Strangely enough.. while eastern AU has the floods to deal with.. Western AU has fires to worry about.. a real danger to them on that side ...

GL I know our chat gang may be thinking of Lunar C , and I do know that she is quite all right.. although it very hot in her neck of the woods right now.

Lets all hope that none of our members have seen harm come their way.. These last few years..when the weather has hit.. it has hit badly.

Thanks Butterfly and Pigling for bumping this topic up. I was going to search for it myself this evening. I just saw an awful news story about the floods on TV a little while ago. Hope our Australian friends are safe.

Feel free to drop into the Down Under thread, we've been talking about the floods a lot. Visitors are welcome :)

At present, it seems none of the DU members are directly flooded (I mean in their own home) but for some their communities and friends are. That's based on last we heard from everyone.

Flood warnings are spreading south down the east coast, through 4 states. I'm hoping any further flooding won't be on the scale we're seeing in Queensland. In one place they're describing it as an inland tsunami, and having watched the video footage, that's what it looked like.

Here's a flood map link, if you're interested. Australian Bureau of Meteorology

It was just on our news tonight too...oh it is horrible! I hope everyone remains safe & in good health & good spirits. There does not even appear to be safe places to go to to be able to get away from the massive destruction going on.
We will pray for you at our house.
Take care our Australian Sewing friends.

I saw this rainfall map which makes you realise the whole country is either getting way more or way less rain than average.

We've been in drought so recently that many of the flooded towns are still under water use restrictions.

There'll be a big recovery effort from this one.

We understand that you would be talking about the floods in the Down Under thread, but having it as its own topic in Misc. would be noticed more by those in North America, I believe. So glad to hear that none of our members have had flooding in their homes and hope it stays that way.
