Date: 1/7/11 4:54 PM Here she is in all her glory...NOT

Took her to the dressform doctor this afternoon. Only time will tell if she can recover.
Things I learned after her exam:
She has a sway back...who knew...not me.
One shoulder is longer than the other by half an inch. (doesn't that seem rather odd?)
One shoulder is lower than the other
She has a broad back in contrast to a narrow chest. This I did know. (Thankgoodness I knew something about her issues.)
Her waist is lower in the back than the front. (I still have serious doubts that this is true, but we will see when it comes time to draw the black line around her waist)
The doctor's fee is $12 per hour which I didn't think was all that bad. You do get what you pay for.
I so want her to get better. Maybe if she gets better I will even name her. Maybe?
Almost forgot to tell you the most important part. Her CB to Bust point was 18". My CB to Bust point is 16"
No wonder she is so sick.

Date: 1/7/11 5:31 PM No not even close. I look at those pointy things and wonder just how big they might be today if I hadn't had the forsight to get them reduced 20 years ago. It boggles the mind. ------ Ada

Date: 1/8/11 12:21 PM LOL. I have one of those. It doesn't look like that anymore, but she is still broader shouldered than I am and where I am larger from front to back, she is larger from side to side (if that makes sense). Oh yeah. My beloved youngest DD at Christmas made the comment that my tummy is larger than her already padded tummy. Grrr. Unfortunately it's true.
And those pointy things up front. Mine never ever looked remotely like that (neither that pointy or large). Another thing youngest DD has always been pleased to point out. -- Edited on 1/8/11 12:23 PM -- ------ Marilyn

Date: 1/8/11 1:01 PM I wish her a speedy recovery. Or, you may consider getting a second opinion. |

Date: 1/8/11 1:31 PM I believe Sherril Miller had a thread a few years back where she performed surgery on hers. ------ Marilyn

Date: 1/8/11 1:39 PM I cut off the torpedos and reshaped them. Then I put a bra on the dress form and put them inside the bra cups bringing them up higher on the torso. The shoulders are still too broad and I also cut off the arm nubs because I couldn't get anything on that didn't have an opening. I put plenty of padding around the torso, high hips and belly. She really does resemble me now and I find Judy quite usable. ------ Visit my blog at http://sewingsaga.blogspot.com
