Hello,

The sewing show is much earlier this year February 25 and 26th, so I thought I should get to organizing a get together.

It does not appear that there is a fashion show on Friday night this year or a kids show on Saturday night.

So Ladies are you interested in meeting? If so, which day and do you want to get together for lunch or dinner?

I will only be attending one day this year, but I can be flexible on which one as I do not work on Fridays.

I did enjoy the dinner at Milestones, I found the Old Spaghetti Factory previous years to be way too busy, even though we were able to get a reservation. But I am only one person and need some input from others.

Do you have a link to the sewing show so we can check it out?

Show Schedule

The show is held at the Victoria Conference Centre which is right in the Inner Harbour attached to the Empress Hotel. If you want to come up from Seattle you can take the ferry and just walk to the hotel.

There is a show rate of $109.00 per night at the Empress. In the past I have attended a preshow class on Thursday, as well as all day Fri and Sat. I stayed at the Empress and it was very nice.

This year I am hoping to do a series of workshops with Jan Bones in Nanaimo in May. I play to save my pennies for that, although I am sure that I can do a fair bit of damage to the bank balance in one day at the Sewing Show.

Each of the last few years a group of us from Vancouver Island have got together for a meal on the Friday night before the fashion show.

If I'm able, I would like to meet for dinner. Friday night would work better for me. Thanks, Anni

Hi Annie,

Great to hear from you. Either day works for me, but the past few years we have met on Friday, so lets plan around Friday for dinner.

Once again, I will try to make this work. DH is a bit obsessive about our Friday dance practice, but we will have just finished a few weeks of intense competition, so maybe he will be ready for a bit of a break. Also, without the rush of getting to a fashion show, the timing of dinner may not be as crucial. I will let you know how negotiations are going!

Hi Michelle,

I plan to go to the sewing show on Friday for sure, so Friday is a good day for me too. You can count me in for dinner or lunch - whatever everyone prefers. I have no specific preferences for where we go. Milestones was very nice last year so anywhere you choose is fine with me.

It's a pity they no longer have an evening show on Friday - I used to enjoy those.

Look forward to seeing everyone at the show.

As it turns out, once again, I won't be able to make it. I'm very dissapointed, but will try again next year.

Althene,

At the moment it looks like just you and I for dinner. Where would you like to go? I will reserve a couple extra seats in case there are a few more interested in joining us at the last minute.

The Victoria Dine Around event is on then, so we will need reservations. A few are offering Celiac options too for the first time this year.

Hi Michelle

Honestly, whatever you choose I will like. Only preference I have is that it's on the Friday, as I'm not sure I will be at the show on the Saturday till the end of the day, and if we can get
something similar to Milestones where we were able to sit down nicely and relax as I know I'm pretty tired by end of the day.

But even if all we can get is a lunch counter, I'm definitely up for getting together to sit and chat at the end of the day.

Good idea to reserve a few extra seats, even if it's only 2 or 3 more , that would be good in case we come across someone that would like to come.

It will be really nice to see you again. I bought all that high quality shirt fabric last year after your told me about it, but unfortunately I haven't cut into any of it. The closest I got was pulling out a T n T PJ pattern I use for my hubby to make some fabulous PJs for him, but have been too busy to follow through. I will have to try to control my fabric spending at the show a bit better this year
