Date: 1/29/11 9:29 PM I picked up an older knitter at an auction. I spent a bit last night figuring out all the parts and knitting a little scarf. Amazingly, every last part, piece and clip was in the box. Does anyone else have/use a knitter?
Mine is a Babylock Sweater Knitting System made by Bond. I'm pretty sure it is a few models older than the current Ulimate Sweater Machine.
For my $2, it will surely be at least a few evenings of entertainment! |

Date: 1/30/11 9:18 AM Enjoy your new machine! I have had knitting machines for years and really have never done much hand knitting. I mostly use my electronic Silver Reed SK840. There is a newer website (no affiliation) with quite a few tutorials on it. It does cost to join but I think some features are available for free. You can check it out if you wish. http://www.knititnow.com/ The site also carries very nice, high quality yarns on cones. Ravelry also has a few groups associated with machine knitting that you might want to look at also.

Date: 1/30/11 12:11 PM Bond has a website with lots of free patterns. ------ My grandmother taught me to sew when I was 10, and I've been sewing ever since. |

Date: 2/11/11 12:57 PM I saw one on tv some years ago looked really neat, but I was worried about all the receptive motion...I have troubles with that kind of thing, but I notice mention of an electronic one here, does it by any chace eliminate the repetitive back and forth with a motor or something? The hand powered ones I've seen are fairly cheap, but still too expensive to try on whim...if I could find one for $2 or even $20 I'd be tempted to try. |

Date: 2/19/11 9:33 AM I have been thinking about the Bond knitting machine for some time now. I did come accross Knitting Boards. Has anyone used these? I know they cost less but how fast can you knit on them?
What are the drawbacks of the Bond machine? They have good but mixed reviews.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Should I go knitting board or Bond machine? |
