Altering a contoured waistband pattern to match the altered waist of the pants pattern

I am altering a pants pattern to accomodate a larger waist size (increasing by 4 inches). My pattern has a contoured waistband. How do I increase the waistband and still have it maintain the correct curvature for the pants waist?

If you are adding the 4" at the sides seams, or you are adding at the center front or back of the pants patterns, then you can try adding the same amount at the center front and back waistbands, I think that will maintain a similar side curve. If you are adding the 4" within the interior of the pants pattern, near the darts, then slash through your waistband pieces in the same general area and add the extra there. You will still most likely need to fiddle and tweek but it's a fairly good start.

Thank you for your reply! I'm using Simplicity 4366. This pattern is supposed to sit 1" below the natural waist, but because I am short waisted, I have very little waist definition and my waist seems to go directly in to my high hip. The pant has a fly front zipper and slant front pockets. I anticipate evenly distributing the increase at the side seams, and the center front and center back seams. I can try lengthening the existing contoured waistband by increasing the band at the same areas previously mentioned, however, I am concerned about maintaing the integrity of the curve of the waistband. I just don't want to mess this up.
