I am wondering how to change the belt on Kenmore 1914? Is it difficult to do? Where do you find the right size replacement, as it seems much bigger than the outer belt on my Singer 306K ?
The needle is not engaging at all, now that I put a new foot pedal on him & it is not sticking, stopping & starting. So I am thinking it must be the belt. ....Yes the handwheel knob is in & nice & tight.
Thank you for any info.

Thank you... I have a belt coming to me. I hope I can replace it without problems.
My machine is making whirring & no movement from needle at all. So I think it probably needs a new belt...before it did this it was making a rather loud noise...
I hope the new belt will make a difference.

Sorry, I've had one thing after the other. I haven't even touched my 1473 that I bought almost a week ago. I thought I'd have more time after chrismas. Tonight, Boy Scouts, groceries and homework ! Good luck. Bert

Does your 1914 need a belt too? I know you have wanted one for a long long time. What do you think it is not sewing?

Some Kenmore machines have two belts. It acts as a "step down" feature which is why the older Kenmores were so strong and could sew almost anything!

Oh Mary, I so sorry you are still having trouble with your 1914. My dear machine has never given me a minutes problem and I hate it that yours has given you so much trouble. I really think you should just take to an OSMG and have him go through it. They really are a great machine.

Hi Melinda in Tulsa; Glad to see you have electrics ....storm looks bad where you are.
Yes, Raggedy Andy is behaving badly. DH is going to check him out this weekend....he has been so busy with school & work no time to help me to move RA around & get to the things. ........... I did oil him real good in top & bottom.
He may end up going to the shop. He has a new foot control now so that hesitation problem is solved. ... DH has more patience than I do, he says RA is a great looking sm & he likes him! .....
Thank you for posting.

I love the name of your sewing machine "'Raggedy Andy". I have a Kenmore 1430. can you post a picture of your machine?
