Date: 2/11/11 0:42 AM Any recommendations on a dress form? I'm looking at this one, Project Runway Dress Form. The PR form is adjustable. Does anybody have one of these dress forms and what can you tell me about it? Thanks for your help. ------ Ruth

Date: 2/11/11 9:25 AM No experience with the form, but JA on line has Simplicity forms for either $99 or $109 - different pages say different prices. And you can get free shipping with the coupon. NAYY for either PR or Simplicy form. Just FYI. |

Date: 2/11/11 4:45 PM One of the gals that works at my LFS has one. It is a PGM form. I don't know if PRW is still using them or if they have changed brands
but L loves her dress form a lot and it gets used almost constantly.
I just order a Dritz Double Deluxe as that fir my budget better. At Overstock they are $156.00 and I'm prepared to do some wrapping to size it to my layer of fluff. ------ Theresa |

Date: 2/11/11 7:59 PM I've looked into getting the PGM dress form, but they are not adjustable as far as I can tell. The Project Runway form is. I just wish I knew if it's good quality for the money. I don't like the forms I've seen at Hancock's and Joann Fabrics with the big dials. ------ Ruth

Date: 2/11/11 8:19 PM I think if you read closely, one($400+) comes in sizes 4-12 and is HEIGHT adjustable, the other($160.) is a twin form, which might be a Dritz product.
Of course it seems impossible on their site to actually get more information, at least from my computer. The descriptions I'm finding may be out of date or inaccurate ------ Theresa |

Date: 2/12/11 12:11 PM I Googled this because I had no idea PR had these merchandizes other than the Simplicity pattern line.
FYI, here's the text for the one sold on Atlanta Thread:
Quote: Fully adjustable dressform for creating your own runway designs. Size Small: BUST 33" - 41" WAIST 26" - 34" HIPS 36" - 44" Instructions: New body shape, Longer back waist length, 10 sizing dials at bust, waist and hips. Rotating dial wheels-Wheels turn easily with one hand. Adjustments can be made in precise increments. Traditional ecru color with Project Runway stamped logo. Foam-backed polyester/cotton cover for easy pinning and marking. Adjustable neck with decorative wooden finial and pin cushion. Sturdy wheeled base with 5 locking wheels.
It's $229+$15 shipping. I don't work for AT, LOL!
I'm finding this a bit confusing because the PR website menu for dressforms is empty.
On the other hand, AT lists this dressform as a new item, along with several other forms but this is the only one that is specifically described as being branded material.
Personnally, I've been thinking of getting a dressform more and more. IIRC, the Dritz My Double Deluxe is on my list because the back length is adjustable within a range that includes my own measurement. For that alone, I'm willing to spend more money on it.
So I understand your quest and I hope someone chimes in with their experience. Good luck!------ Fashion Maté, where I blog about what I (eventually) sew : http://fashionmate.blogspot.com

Date: 2/13/11 11:04 AM Rhoda, I've already searched and read all the boards but haven't seen anything about the Proj. Runway dress form. I can't afford one of the higher priced forms, so I was hoping to get feedback on the Project Runway form. Thanks for the suggestion, though. ------ Ruth

Date: 2/13/11 11:07 AM Lakaribane,
What's strange, too, is that Atlanta Threads only lists size small of this particular dress form. That works for me, since I need a small.... but maybe they are still putting bigger sizes on their site. I'm going to take a look at the My Double Deluxe, but if I go with the one from Atlanta Threads, I need to decide today (free shipping code ends today). Thanks for the reply. ------ Ruth

Date: 2/14/11 5:42 PM FWIW, I just ordered Dritz My Double Deluxe form via Overstock.
Good price ($156.00) and face it, $2.95 shipping is practically free in my book. Ordered last Thursday, due to arrive tomorrow. Add fast to that too, but they are shipping out of UT and I am in OR. Will post
a review when I get her up and adjusted. ------ Theresa |
